Hi everyone,

I am entering the States on a K1 fiance visa. I was wondering about my possibilities to work. I already have a good opportunity that I don't want to waste but at the same time I don't know how long it will take until I become legaly elegibile to work.

Any suggestions?

After you get married and file for AOS / EAD it will take about 3-4 month to get your EAD, so you will be elligible to work.

Hi,

As it's been mentioned previously, you are NOT allowed to work on a K-1. The K-1 only allows you to move to the U.S. to marry and stay while your AOS is pending. You need first to activate your visa by entering the U.S, get married and apply for a EAD/AP with your AOS application.

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012
