yhup a photcopies is what we give to them.... you will only need this document on your interview day...

God bless!

That's good news for me, thank you. Did you have to order some sort of tax transcripts from the IRS or did you just give them photocopies of your personal tax records? If you did order tax transcripts from the IRS, were they able to send them to a Philippines address? Did they ask for the last 3 years or only the last year? Did they ask for your W-2 sheet as well? Sorry for all the questions; your help is greatly appreciated :)

Perfect, thank you. I think I can have my parents scan and email me copies of my 1040 and W2, and theirs as well since they're co-sponsors, for the last three years. I'm sure getting the visa approved is one very happy day :)

Thank you very much for the information soinlove20. We filed on Dec 27th and will follow up this week or next.

DanzKat, I think that is the same woman that works at window 25 on the second floor where we filed our i-130. We were also told 3-6 months. So it's necessary to follow up with phone calls and emails like soninlove20 did. This way as the process takes place and any data is missing we can find out on our own then act quickly rather than waiting for Immigration to notify us which can take longer.

Bron Chase, I think I will get the other 2 previous years as well! Never hurts to be prepared.

hi i filed dcf in manila too and this is what i do...

first, i didn't even recieve an approval letter, i just inquire about my visa processing and they told me on email that i am approve, then after that i emailed them asking for my manila case number and they give it to me after 2 days via email too. Affte receiving my manila case number i go ahead and schedule my medical and interview. I've done the medical and still didn't receive any packet. After a few weeks i receive the packet and sent the ds230 back with 2 pcs of 2X2 pictures.

So i must say email them for your manila case number and schedule your interview.Don't wait for the packet.

Goodluck and Godbless.

Hello! my son's petition was approved! I've set a date for the interview already. may i ask if you faxed them your ds-230 before having your medical and interview? Thanks!

soinlove20, From what it sounds like, you can bug them for your case number by email and as soon as you have that you can schedule an interview with the embassy and you can also schedule your medical. I was under the impression that you needed to show up at St. Luke's with some sort of appointment letter or NOA2 or something. Once they gave you your case number did you wait to get something in the mail before doing the medical?

What happens after receiving the approval letter for an i-130?

1. do i have to wait for a packet in the mail? or can i file the ds-230 that i downloaded from the uscis website?

2. can i fax the ds-230? if so what is the fax number? and do i only fax part 1? are there any other forms i must send?

3. Once i submit the ds-230, may i set an interview date via the website?

thanks!

We filed all that together.

No fax that I know of.

Just ring the local call center to schedule an interview. You can do that right away.

What does it mean if you don't know the number above 2 and below 4? Am I a robot? Or a monkey perhaps?

Thank you very much! you filed all the documents all together? did you file it at the embassy before your interview? or did you just bring all the documents to the interview? All in all, how many months did your DCF take you? just wondering. hehe. Thanks!

  • 4 weeks later...

Just an update on the current I-130 process. I was told that starting late last year Homeland Security has to vet the person filing the petition (American Citizen) so there are no quick 2 week reply's like sometimes in the past. But I'm happy to say I'm approved (for the last step) and in the timeline I was expecting.

I went online today to schedule my interview and the first available date was 2 work days from today! I still need my Medical and will be away on business so I selected a date at the end of the month since I'm not leaving until April anyway. Glad to see it can be that fast!

11-21-2011 Filed 4 I-130's via DCF (Myself and 3 children)

02-03-2012 Approved!

02-11-2012 Received approval letters via Air21

02-15-2012 Earliest interview date available (as of 2/11/2011 but would need to complete medical first)

02-27-2012 Interview date I selected

So if I was in a hurry and did this as fast as possible, including contacting the embassy every week, I could have been on a plane about 81 days after the I-130 application was filed even with the Christmas and New Years holidays.

Response to some of the earlier questions: The notice says return the DS-230 (and DS-2001 if you want them to schedule the interview instead on doing it online) by mail or in person to the embassy ASAP. I'm sure they need original signed so no FAX for this step. They included only part 1 of the DS-230 and I know part 2 has to be signed at the interview so it appears part 2 is not required at this stage.
