What happens after receiving the approval letter for an i-130?

1. do i have to wait for a packet in the mail? or can i file the ds-230 that i downloaded from the uscis website?

2. can i fax the ds-230? if so what is the fax number? and do i only fax part 1? are there any other forms i must send?

3. Once i submit the ds-230, may i set an interview date via the website?

thanks!

hi i filed dcf in manila too and this is what i do...

first, i didn't even recieve an approval letter, i just inquire about my visa processing and they told me on email that i am approve, then after that i emailed them asking for my manila case number and they give it to me after 2 days via email too. Affte receiving my manila case number i go ahead and schedule my medical and interview. I've done the medical and still didn't receive any packet. After a few weeks i receive the packet and sent the ds230 back with 2 pcs of 2X2 pictures.

So i must say email them for your manila case number and schedule your interview.Don't wait for the packet.

Goodluck and Godbless.

You don't need to have a us joint account,,,local bank account is good..that's all we pass to the embassy.

It will be an easy processing if you have all the documents they need.

Good luck... if you have any questions i am willing to answer it...

God bless!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

I called the embassy today. I was very unhappy to hear at first the lady say it takes 3 - 6 months for DCF I-130 approval. Last year I inquired about the process since I know the date we are leaving and didn't want to be issued a visa too soon (have only 6 months to leave after it's received). They suggested when to file with no promises etc. Anyway, last year the I-130 step was only 15 - 30 days and I was even told when I filed that it would be a "few weeks". Not to worry however I see the entire process is still in the 100- 120 day time frame which will still work out fine.

I was given an email address to check on status of DCF I-130 filings in Manila: MPHInquiry.cis@dhs.com The woman was very strong in her statement that DHS processes the I-130 and USCIS has no control (and I thought USCIS was part of DHS - silly me). She strongly hinted that I need to wait 3 months before inquiring (which I wont). Hope this helps.

This is great information. May I ask if you were at any point asked for the "originals" of your tax documents? I will be using a joint sponsor and this person is hesitant to mail his original tax documents to me here in Manila from the US. He fears the documents will be lost in the mail. Will photocopies suffice? Thanks for your help
