Guys, My petition was approved today.

Goodluck to you all and I hope Vermont speeds up.

Congratulations, that's brilliant! I am very happy for you.

Let us know if you hear from the NVC - I've done some research as to what happens after approval, but it would be great to hear it from a fellow August F2A filer.

Athena, check this out: http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=4&office=2&charttype=1

VSC is much small just by the sheer number of applications they receive/process compared to CSC.

first chart is national, second below is the center specific data

the approvals are in line with the expected processing time, those in CSC get approved around 7.5 months, those in VSC closer to 13 months.

About the waiting..someone else said this on the forum, you have to carry on with your life and try not to think too much about this, especially check your status weekly. It will drive you crazy. I try to avoid the subject as much as possible with my wife to help pass time faster. the less she thinks about this, the better for both of us, even though we both know we signed up for a 2.5 year separation ... :/

NVC case number: 24 June 2013

17 Dec 2011: I-130 sent

21 Dec 2011: NOA1

16 May 2013: NOA2

24 Jun 2013: NVC case number received

25 Jun 2013: DS-3032 sent

27 Jun 2013: AOS bill received and paid

xx Jul 2013: AOS package sent

09 Jul 2013: DS-3032 accepted

11 Jul 2013: IV bill received and paid

21 Jul 2013: IV package sent

11 Oct 2013: Case completed

Thanks! The charts are interesting, but I am not quite sure how to interpret them. At least it seems that they are approving petitions in preference categories every month, so that's good news.

The wait as such is not so bad, it's more the uncertainty. If I knew we'd be approved in the autumn, I could relax, but I am just worried that our petition will get lost at VSC or denied for some reason. On the other hand, I just came across an old thread I used to read here and it reminded me that three years ago VSC took 43 months to approve F2A petitions. Suddenly 13 months sounds pretty good to me!

I have a question .... I am a sept 2011 F2A filer at CSC.

I understand it will take about two years to get a visa number ... but how will that work?

That CSC approves the I130 then sends to NVC and it waits there? or it waits at CSC till visa bulletin gets closer to availability (based on PD) and then CSC approves/works on it?

CSC approves the petition and sends it to the NVC. NVC normally starts processing it approximately one year before they think that the priority date might be current. Once you have completed NVC processing, your file waits for your priority date to become current.

Yes, it will take over two years to get a visa; CSC approves the I130 then sends to NVC and it waits there until further processing.

Am sure you will be getting aprroval soon.

Goodluck
