that's a request for evidence before the NOA2 is approved. mostly done when you are faking the marriage or accepting financial payment for getting someone to the US on a green card.

hefty penalty and several years in prison is your lovely surprise, should you turn out to be one of those ... ;)

Otherwise, why to worry?

I am of the opinion that, they just want to make clarification on your petition before making a decision.

Goodluck with your interview.

you see...that is exactly why they ask you in. suspicion of marriage for bringing in green card guys ;) it's a big business so the guys are just prudent...

honest ones have no reason to worry. they will just as you a few simple questions and that's it.

if you are too close to the US citizenship they will just reject you and tell to wait. if the current process would take 1.5 year to complete and the us citizen one 6 months, it just makes sense to not persuade.

Hmmmm! I expect our 'August 2011 PD' to be current in 2013; At worst case scenario, assuming it moves '4 weeks' at a time, we should have interview by November/December 2013.

Still here reading the forum :)

I have a question for everyone here: I know we are still far away from being current, but is anyone already thinking of the practical arrangements - quitting your job, terminating your rental agreement, selling property etc. - relating to the move to the US? I realise it would be safest to wait until one has the visa in hand to do all this, but my problem is that I have a three-month notice period both at work and with my landlord, and I just really don't see myself waiting out another three months after the interview. We've waited long enough to be together! Hence I might have to take my chances and resign a few months before I think our priority date could be current. Is anyone else thinking of doing this or am I crazy?

You're crazy :D

Just joking :) On the serious side: wife has 2 months notice and we figured that the PD to be current will be almost 6 weeks away from the actual interview. After the interview it will 7-10 business days to get the visa (some may get it the same day, but it varies).

That adds up to 8 weeks.

On top of that you may want to have some time packing, sorting out paperwork as closing bank accounts...etc, plus buying a flight ticket not for the nex day but maybe a week or 2 away.

So that goes up to 10 weeks or so....

So I would say that as soon as you see that you PD is current the next month you are safe to handle your notice.

HINT: keep 2 weeks vacation unused for the year when you are becoming current. So your notice period will be shortened by the unused vacation, as you will say, you are taking those days during the last 2 weeks of your notice.
