Moved from General Polls as topic is not a poll. I am assuming the air travel relates to travelling to the US and not just air travel in general, thus have moved it to the Moving Here and Your New Life in America forum as a more appropriate location

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Here are some of my traveling tips for long flights! Take what you like and leave the rest!

Try to get up and stretch out when you are in the air--sitting to long isn't good. Also, try to avoid soda on the plane and hydrate with water (flying can dehydrate you). I like to bring some lip balm and hand lotion because the cabin is dry air. Make sure clothing is comfortable and that you have nice warm socks. Layering is good so you can adjust your body temperature accordingly. Also, bring snacks. The airplane snacks are horrible and not as often as people would like. Try not to sit next to bathroom since there is alot of traffic and travel by there. The back of the plane gets more turbulence than the front--something to keep in mind. I prefer a window seat so I can lean against it and sleep. Also, bring a little travel kit of toothbrush, brush, soap, clean underware with you in a backback...you will feel loads better changing and getting prepped before you land. Books and other forms of entertainment will help keep you occupied. Next, see if you can bring earplugs with you...I am always seated near a child who doesn't like flying. The earplugs have been a blessing. Finally, try to keep your carry-on stuff lite if you can. There is nothing worse than lugging around a heavy bag.

Enjoy the flight! :star:

Any ideas and tips for the air travel??

Do you have any detail for this...

shall i discuss in this places....

I took air sickness tablets. I wasn't aware how flights affected me until I took a tablet (at my husbands suggestion). Slept SO much better.

I bought a bottle of water once I was through security so take money to be able to do that. If you're having a couple of layovers consider taking money to buy food at the airports.

I also took some chocolate (called Milky Ways in Aus but similar to Three Muskateers in the US) as well as minties (chewy peppermit candy). The minutes helped settle my stomach after some of my food.

I also suggest a toothbrush but since I found "Wisps" I would take those. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_LEWk0ikQQko/TFBvYa422mI/AAAAAAAAABM/8PBcBdBnHG0/s1600/colgate-300.jpg but I prefer the spearmint one (green) to this blue one.

I also took a hooded jacket (to cover my face to sleep and keep warm), my iPod, a book/magazine (now it would be my Kindle) as well as a neck pillow.

The last flight I took with all the stuff was by far the best flight I had. I slept longer and better. I always sit near the wings as the turbulence isn't as bad there, and I picked an aisle seat so I could walk around (to prevent the risk of DVT http://www.acefitness.org/fitfacts/pdfs/fitfacts/itemid_290.pdf without bugging people to climb over them).

Hope that helps. Travel safe!

Agree with Vanessa, if you're not used to traveling by air, probably better to get some motion sickness pills, as you may feel a little queasy during turbulence. Make sure your sinuses are clear when you fly, you can use nasal sprays that open your airways, otherwise you will get a terrible headache from the air pressure particularly during take off and landing.

Cheers

I like sitting next to the window so that I can lean against it and sleep. Sometimes if im lucky, the seat next to me isn't booked, so I can stretch out a bit more. (I usually travel alone.) I also bring an Ipod loaded with apps, movies, and songs. I bring a book. I also like to get freshened up before I land in my destination. If I have a long layover, then I like to get up and roam around the airport. I found at the Korean airport, they have a nice free lounge at the top floor, which offers a comfortable lounge type chair nice for sleeping, and also desktop computers with free internet. This lounge made a 6 hour wait seem like nothing.
