Researchers in Australia have concluded that smoking marijuana can lead to mental health problems, according to NPR. The Aussie study was among 80 that pointed to marijuana as speeding up "serious psychotic illness." The research, published by the "Archives of General Psychiatry," determined that pot smokers became psychotic almost 3 years sooner than nonusers, while other types of substance abuse sped up mental illness by two years. Interestingly, the study found that alcohol alone showed no effect in the onset of psychoses. "This study lends weight to the view that cannabis use precipitates schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders ..." NPR speaks with doctors and psychologists, one of whom warns parents that if a history of schizophrenia exists in the family, or if children are "loners or prone to flight of fancy, 'I'd be real worried about them using marijuana.'"

OMG! Instead of losing your mind at 78 you lose it at 76. This is groundbreaking!

Evidently, your math skills deteriorate at an even younger age.

How do you know I wasn't talking about a potential case where the man loses his mind in January, at 76 (and just turned 76 in January) vs. a potential case II where the man loses his mind at 78 in December (with a birthday the next month in January in which he turns 79)?

Your ok, it said 2.7 years not three. I would have posted this earlier but the exposed legs slowed me down for a good 5 min.
