Hi! i am preparing my I-751 packet and i am confused if affidavit of support is really required. If so, does it have to be notarized?

Thanks!

The ROC process does not require an affidavit of support, but one of the pieces of evidence you can send is an affadavit from family and friends. The affadavit should state how they know you, they are aware of your marriage, and that they have interacted with you and your spouse.

Sorry guys! What I really mean is affidavit of friends, not affidavit of support...oh my i got confused on that!

Did u include the affidavit of friends/relatives on evidence of bonafide marriage? Is it really required and do u have to notarize it?

It is not required and not notarized.

You only need them if you have not enough strong proof of co-mingling of finances and lives.

Each case is different, only the individual that's working on your case can say the evidence you have is enough( for them). I'd say send them in they are as good as any other piece of evidence. And yes get them notorized.

A Notary just says your signature is your signature. Notarizing documents for this process is pretty much pointless unless it's specifically requested, which it's not. Affidavits I probably would but otherwise, no.

What's your point? are you agreeing with me or contridicting yourself. Are you trying to say when i give those people at Amscot my $10 they don't care if i'm me?

How many of you out there say y'all don't need the Affidavits from your friends?.... come on now .. put y'all hands up :bonk:

I don't need affidavits from friends and won't be submitting them. I have enough evidence of relationship without needing to bother my friends.

What is Amscot?

I-751 instructions ask for affidavit. The language does not say if it is required or not and nor does it say if it needs to be notarized or not.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-751instr.pdf

I would include one just incase. The whole point is to have as many as possible.

We did not include sworn affidavits and I am not concerned about it. However, if one reads the directions carefully, they state:

The documents should cover, but not limited to,the following examples:

That does not exclude, rather requests that at a minimum the sworn affidavits along with the other listed items be included.

Regardless plenty of folks have successfully lifted conditions without them and I don't recall reading any RFE specifically requesting them: Rather they generally ask for more evidence of co-mingling of assets or co-habitation.

We did not include any affidavits from friends and we were approved (relatively) quickly, with no RFE. As others have said, as long as your other evidence is strong, the affidavits are optional. :)
