I have been trying to find a Civil Surgeon in my area that even understands that I only need Part 1, 2 and 5 of the I-693 filled out. Everyone I call has told me my wife needs to have a new medical. Can anyone reccommend someone in the San Jose, CA area? This is the last part we need to file our AoS.

Also, my Wife was not given a Hep B Vaccination. Is that going to hold us up? She has started the first course now that I have her on my insurance.

Here's the VJ wiki file of civil surgeon, looks like there's one in San Jose for $10-$15...

Give the civil surgeon written proof that she's started the vaccination process and assure him/her that you plan to complete it.

Care,

Bill

Hep B isn't required for most age groups.

What shots is she missing? She might not need to SEE a CS.

She had all of the required shots and when I took her into our Doctor he seemed very pleased with what she had. I'll call that Civil Surgeon on Monday and try to get an appointment. Thanks for the link and the help everyone.

Okay you seem to misunderstand. If she's had all the shots at the time of the K1 medical then she doesn't NEED to see a civil surgeon at all. You just send a copy of the DS-3025

I called the USCIS and they specifically told me that an I-693 must be submitted but that only 3 parts of it needed to be completed. I dont understand it myself but I am going with what I was told.

They're wrong. I'm sorry but the 1800 number is called the "misinformation line" for a reason.

There are MANY MANY MANY people who had no issue sending just the DS3025. The most memorable was approved without RFE or interview in 46 days.

Does your wife fall into the age group that requires the Hep B vaccination? If not and she had all of her other vaccinations, what Vanessa is suggesting is that you could file the AOS without getting the I-693 Vaccination Section completed (the I-693 has several sections - the first is personal identification, the next is the actual immigration medical and the third is the vaccination documentation - USCIS told you that she only needs to submit the vaccination documentation). Instead, you would need to have a copy of her DS3025 (Vaccination worksheet from her medical exam) as long as it was originally prepared in English, and submit that with the I-485 as proof that she already has had the vaccinations required when she took her original medical.

Some VJ members have been successful in doing this and have not needed to get the I-693 vaccination information. Others have been sent an RFE to provide the I-693 Vaccination information. The requirements state that you need to submit the I-693 vaccination information, however if the vaccinations are already complete, then USCIS already has the information on file with the medical. It is confusing - and unfortunately, it isn't consistently handled by the adjudicators. One will still insist upon the extra paperwork and another will not.

If she didn't have her vaccinations completed by her original medical or if she requires the HepB vaccination due to age, then she will definitely need to submit the I-693 Vaccination section with her I-485.

Not all Civil Surgeons are aware of the K-1 exemption - and some who are, don't care - they are only interested in getting as much money as they can from the process so won't provide just the Vaccination documentation. That is why you may need to shop around and find one who will do just what is requested and not demand more.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
