hi,today we went to the AMERICAN embassy GHANA for an immigrant visa,we were three my sister who is 16 and brother who is also 19 and me,our step dad petition for us and i think is derivative i.e based on the marriage with my mum.so we got to the CO. and he asked who petioned for us and i said my step dad,and he asked where he works, the name of my biological dad ,how my mum got to the US and etc.

everything went well with the interview until he said he has a MEMO that states that the marriage between my step dad and my mother may be based on immigration purpose so we should provide more evidence that show their marriage is not based on that,so they gave a paper that highlighted the documents they need from them(shared bills, marriage certi, joint account etc) but these doc. where the very doc. in their possession so am wondering why they ask them to bring it back and also they asked us to go for a DNA.........can someone help me to understand whether is a normal routine or truly there is this memo on our case........and after they gave us june 7 2011 that is too far .also wanted to know if that day change that date.thnx

this is not a normal routine, so the hope for 'normalcy', alas, doesn't exist.

However, there is some suspect of fraud as well, so be certain that the evidence submitted prior to June 7, 2011 actually is enough.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Its a normal routine. My three brothers went thru wat u guys r going thru noW b4 they got approved. If your mon can register with a death Insurance compAny with her name, your step father's name and all your names. It will be very gud. Then she can request for a letter from the insurance company... lyk a will or an inheritance letter stating that when she dies this amount of money goes to your step dad and her chidren with all your names in it. Hope u understand me. I know this because it was a letter lyk that, which got my brothers approved... but if your mom can get somethn stronger than that fine. Otherwise if they don't get somethn really strong they will keep asking for more prove and after a year they can deny you guys. If they gave you guys a DNA letter. Its also a sign of Good news.

I'm also sorry to say this process takes sometime but with God anythn can happen. Did they give you 7th june 2011 or 2012. I know with their dates they don't change it. Wish you guys all the best.

thanx so much ....the CO. said all our documents we brought to the embassy are okay and that if we are able to bring the documeants he will approve so i was wondering if joint bank accounts, mortgage bills, pictures, internal transcripts can also serve as Strong prove or apart from the above suggestion are there any other documents u can suggest......................

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions... but I guess all that you've mentioned are strong. My friends dad who is a lawyer told me they only ask for what they need. If the C.O wants all those documents back then give it to him. Don't worry its nothing difficult... Jst get them what they need. Please know that after every six months your police certificate expires and you would have to renew it otherwise it can also hold you back a little... Jst be prepared and go with everything you know can help you on your nxt date. Even little things can help.
