I suggest you go back to the registrars office and have them correct it.

We just noticed that the Registrar Office put Single on my husband's status since he is a widower. Is that alright? I hope this is not a complicated case. Thanks a lot.

Was there a widower option?

Wait, he is your husband. Shouldn't his status be Married?

No. Obviously the marriage cert makes him married. The presence of such a status implies it asks PRIOR to the wedding what were they (because honestly, why put "married" on a marriage cert? Like.. duh?!). I assume that either divorce or widowed requires proof of that status. Many states (like Iowa) just print the marriage licence on pretty paper and turn that into the marriage cert so the info is completed (most of it) prior to the actual wedding.

I read that most states don't require Death Certificates but instead, just asks for the date of death of the previous spouse and put either Divorced or Widowed on the status instead of Single. Why disregard the previous marriage(?!). So the OP is talking about the Marriage License that turns into an official Marriage Certificate after the wedding.

I assume they are yes. Which is why I asked whether there was a "widowed" option. Some don't and just consider widowed as single.

Yes that was when we applied for marriage license. I dont really remember if there were choices in the form. We submitted death certificate because they asked for it, but still they put Single on my husband's civil status. I hope they did it right. Please have anyone here to share their experience.

God is good all the time..

What state are you from? It's likely you're from a state that recognises divorced as single. I wouldn't worry.

I am still here in Philippines and we got married here.

So it's a Philippine marriage certificate? Why don't you call NSO at (02) 737-1111 and ask them about it. Divorced wouldn't be an option because we don't have it in the Philippines but I see Widow/Widower often.
