civil surgeons who can work for clients in other states?

My wife has all vaccinations we have learned, but her records are in Russian. We found a civil surgeon locally who would do it for $250, but I have seen quite a few people on here mentioning they faxed their records in to a doctor in a different state and received the paperwork through the mail. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thank you

There used to be Dr. Arnold in Texas, but he retired from practice at age 74 a couple of years ago. Search for the thread "Civil Surgeons Who Won't Rip You Off," read through it, and post there if necessary. The quote of $250 seems quite steep for transcribing records only; it sounds like a quote for a full physical examination.

What exactly does the full examination entail? Is it considered a full examination if it is also bloodwork and tb test?

it is very difficult to find a civil surgeon that does transcribing only. why do civil surgeons make it complicated. i've even shown the doctor the form I-693 instruction that says if youre a K1 you dont need another full exam but still he says i still have to do it, damn, its gotten complicated and expensive. frustrated....

You are AOSing from a J1 visa according to your timeline so I will report this thread to be moved to the proper forum. You WILL require an entire medical. That doctor actually broke the rules by only doing it via fax as you must been seen in person. Many people who used his services (once it was discovered) had to redo their stuff. Even if he was still around that was transcription only. She needs a full medical.

A medical depends on the CS you pick. They will do a skin test for TB and if positive require an xray, they'll ask about vaccinations (and she'll need to get any missing shots). The body exam i didn't have to strip naked but he did check my lymph nodes under my arm, groin region. He palpated my stomach area, checked my eyes, made me bend and touch my toes. Some people had to get naked but usually that involves a gown. I wouldn't worry too much.

They would do what for $250? Transcribe the vaccinations or do the exam? Neither will work if your wife is on a j-1. Your wife will need a full medical AND it must be done in person. Though do bring her vaccine records, of course, so you don't need to pay for unnecessary vaccines.
