K1 Visa - Frustrated with Frankfurt

Hey All,

First I would like to say that this website and forum are a great resource when it comes to Visa's.

Anyway, I just want to vent a little bit due to Frankfurt's slow issuing and mailing speed. My finacee completed her Visa interview two weeks ago and was approved. As of now we still have not received the Visa in the mail. I called last Tuesday trying to find out if it had been mailed and of course it was not. The nice lady on the phone told me everything is fine and it would be issued and mailed asap. As of today we still have not received the Visa in the mail. I really wish they had an interactive website that would tell you when the mail is sent.

Unfortunately my job is relocating me back to the States on 28 November. I had planned for her to fly with me but who knows if they will get around to mailing her passport and Visa. Whats scary is all the cases listed on this website say that Frankfurt mails the Visa's generally within a week of the interview. Here's hoping ours comes during week 3. Oh, I also asked if it was possible to pick the Visa up in person. Apparently they do not do that anymore.

Sorry I just had to vent a little bit as I watch the movers pack up the house...

I hear you Frustration I can just ensure you that they are usually very good and quick from what i read. I meet a friend of mine during the waiting time for the visa interview in frankfurt ... and we both received our visa the same week by mail. she received her visa a day earlier but discovered a mistake on the visa and sent it back they corrected the mistake and had it sent back next week. well they told us that it could take up-to 10-14 business day until we could receive it. If we would not receive it within the time we were supposed to contact the embassy. Usually they reply very fast by email. I would prob. call and sent messages about the status of the mail ... was it sent out or is it still in process... do they need new passport picture... did mail men lost it..?

I hope you will resolve your matters soon... keep in mind your guys are approved and soon you will be together therefore congratulation!!!!

Thank you for the encouraging words. Actually I have seen my Fiancee just about everyday for years and just a little bit scared I will have to move back to the US without her. The last time I called & emailed was on Tuesday when I learned that it had not be mailed yet. Here's what they sent back in the email:

Dear xxxxxxx,

Thank you for your email. Your case is complete and the K1 visa will be issued and mailed within the next few days.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Unit

When I called they essentially said the same thing but that it should be mailed today or tomorrow. Hopping I see the mailman today with a nice package. If not I suppose I will email and call again. Really sucks that you can only get them on the phone between 1400-1600 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Actually just received the Visa in the mail today! Yay! So for anyone else that might read this in the future and is having the same issue, our interview was on the 4th. We completed the medical portion two weeks prior so the consulate informed us the visa was approved during the interview. It took a total of 14 days to issue the visa and 1 day for mail.

yeah. congrats - now you guys can continue being together , sometimes it is strange. have safe trip!! and a happy wedding day!!!!
