I hope this is not too silly/paranoid of a question..My husband has maxed out his days off and I wonder if I can go to biometrics appt by myself. Is there any locker of some sort at USCIS office to store my personal items like my car key before I go through that metal scan?

Thanks everyone =)

my ASC didn't even have a metal scanner, going by yourself will be fine. even the detroit service center you could go through by yourself, biometrics they just want finger prints and pictures and pretty much nothing else, so by yourself is fine, i am sure taking your things in too will be fine, its not an embassy

They have a body scanner and a bag scanner at mine same things like the airport has. They go through your purse, no cellphones at all in the building have to be left in your car.

You fill out a small form with your information, you get your fingerprints taken and a photo taken and they give you your biometric notice back stamped and signed. Do not lose this as its your proof you had the appointment done. My husband never went to my AOS or my ROC appointment i went alone both times.

our biometrics was similar. dont remember having a metal detector in philly. waled to the desk, filled out a few papers, waited about 5 minutes, she was called and came back in about 3 minutes. Whole experience was about 20-30 minutes and we were done.

Hi everyone, I did my biometrics today and the service center had it done really fast. The only bad thing is out of 10 fingers, 9 are rejected because of my skin being so dry. I have explained to the technician that it has scales, crack and rash since I just developed nickel allergy recently =[ In fact, it's getting worse and worse and saw no sign of healing. She said they will most likely give me another appointment in 6 weeks =[ I pray that my only (middle) fingerprint will help me pass, does anyone have experience like this before?

There have been a couple of other posters who have problems with fingerprints due to skin issues.

You will likely get another appointment and when you fail the second appointment they ask you to get a police record for them. Its nothing too serious and this happens to people. Don't worry too much over it!

Hi, I went to my biometrics today in NY, I had the appointment for 12/05, but can't make it, so I went there today, had no problem with that, no metal detector, or anything like that. But my fingerprints were not too good, but she got one whole hand and the other one she had difficulty with a few fingers, but she said I should be fine.... not sure
