Section B and C of the I-130 asks for address information. Should I list our address in Thailand, or where we'll be living in the States? The reason I ask is because even in Section C (which is for my wife's information), it asks for things like "city," "state," and "zip code." Well duh, she's not living in the States, which is my reason for requesting the visa, so why have the address section formatted for stateside addresses?

Also, my wife doesn't have a middle name, so should I leave that box blank, or put "NMN" (No Middle Name) in there?

I can tell this is going to be a long process full of b.s. government forms formatted by people who've likely never left the U.S. before. Am I right?

Well before i can really answer this I have some questions? So you are both living together in Thailand now? Will you stay togehter there until the visa is received before comming to the US? Is the place you will be living together in the US your home?

List your address in Thailand. If the address won't fit properly on the form itself, write "see attached" on the form and then write the address on a supplemental sheet. I had to use a supplemental sheet for my wife's address as it could not be written in the format on the form itself.

There is another section of the I-130 that will ask "address where your relative intends to live" and that is the place where you will write the address you will be living at in the States.

Also, my wife doesn't have a middle name, so should I leave that box blank, or put "NMN" (No Middle Name) in there?

Put dashes through that section, like this, ---------------------------

I did this and had no issues.

amazngrace - Yes, we are living in Thailand together, and will continue to live here until she is granted a visa to the United States. Once we go to the State, we'll likely stay with my parents while I look for a place for us to live. I don't know if it matters, but my parents address has been my home of record for years because I was working in places like Iraq and Afghanistan for quite some time prior to moving to Thailand.

Hope that's the information you were looking for. Thanks for any guidance you can give me.

Thanks Ryan. I'll have to do the "see attached" thing because there's just no way our address here in Thailand is going to fit in those blocks.

Now I know why law firms charge so much to do this process for people.

Yes it was thank you very much. Ok in Section B and C put your current adress where you both are living together then next page #18 put the US address where you plan to live and then on #19 you will put the Thai address again. I hope this helps you.

You are very welcome. By the way this can be a long and chaotic process, and at times you might even be curious if some of these officials you deal with have a soul! LOL However, on the flip side that is what sites like this are for to avoid as much negativity as possible. My journey has actually went very smooth with no major bumps in the road. Using the guidelines here have been my everything at times. I would have been so lost without them, as they are extremely helpful. Just remember throughout this process...when all else fails just follow the directions, dont be afraid to ask questions and never just jump the gun and send in any documents without being asked for them.

Good Luck

Sounds like a plan. Thanks for the tips. I'll try not to let the government red tape get to me.

Put the Thai equivalent. City = Amphur, State = Changwat, zip code = postal code. Thailand has all of these geographical equivalents. For the middle name put "None" Don't leave anything blank.

In Thai looks like this:

12/345 Moo 2 Taladkuan, Ampur Watthana, Bangkok, 10110

Looks like this in English

Address: 12/345 Moo 2 Talakuan

District: Watthana

State: Bangkok

Zip code: 10110

We used our foreign address and gave our US address where our banking, etc is addressed to(my parents actually - same you) as intended address.

Our address is a company address / PO Box number actually

We put N/A under state. Under country we put the country (Saudi Arabia) and we do have a zip code.

My original I130 / Jakarta in 2007 I had to handwrite the address. No big deal - long as it is readable LOL.

For name - you want the name on the application that you want on the green card, drivers license, and every other document ever issued foreved.

My wife's first name, original family name, my last name is what we used just like a name change in the US. WE got her passport changed first. Whatever name they issue the visa in is whatever name on the passport and will be on the green card and it a cast iron ####### to change it once it is issued and you start getting drivers license, etc after she arrives. As long as the passport is changed any time before the interview you are good to go on a name change (if you wish, many do not)

Hope that helps. Good luck

i don't get it.

himher - Having a little foresight, she already changed her last name to mine, and got a new passport reflecting that change.

Karee - Thanks for the address info...that will work. :)
