need urgent advice

Hi friends,

i had been to the us embassy today to ask for packet 3 but the lady out there asked me if i had all my documents ready so that she can give me an interview date.she then handed over the ds 2001 and asked me to fill it and sign.before i gave her the form i asked her if i am supposed to recieve and immigration packet .she just handed 1 form asking all the documents required before the interview no packet just 1 form.

from which i dont have the ds 230 the IV fee bill and the affidavit of support.

i dont understand why they need a AOS for k3 visa i thought its for the CR1.

anyway they said they will give me the letter for the medical after i have all these docs.

i am very confused and dissapointed.is this normal

the ds 230,AOS and the IV BILL was given to my attourney and i expected all of this to be in the file which NVC sends after their job is over.

please tell me what should i do now.

Think there may be a bit of confusion here. What is referred to as packet 3 is generally only required for K visas, DCF, not CR-1 as what would normally have been done via packet 3 from the consulate is now handled by NVC for CR-1 visas. Once your case is received by the consulate an interview packet is sent out which ........

If you were only required to submit part 1 of the DS-230 and photocopy of biographics page of the passport to NVC, the interview packet will contain, letter with date and time of interview, DS-230 (part II to be completed but not signed), police certificate & medical instructions, and a list of other documents required eg police/court records, Birth/Marriage/Divorce cerificates - originals plus photocopy & any translations, military & deportation papers if applicable, valid passport.

If you were required to submit all the above to NVC along with DS-230 parts I & II, you will receive an interview letter with the date and time of your interview along with instructions for obtaining the medical.

The already know you are ready for an interview date when they receive the case from NVC which contains all that you have submitted to NVC.

thanks for ur reply.first of all this is my k3 visa at the embassy not the cr1 its not yet completed its still in the review stage at nvc.

and this checklist i got asks for all originals and copies also off ds230 AOS,IV BILL ect.

i am really confused .
