Question about Bona Fide - Lease/rental

Hello,

So i'm trying to work on this Bona Fide subject for my future case. I'm Venezuelan. My wife is American, I live with my wife's parents they are helping us and supporting us for now till we get all this sorted out. Now the question is for the Bona Fide; one of the things needed is a Joint name on a lease/rental agreement.

Since we are both living in her parent's house meaning there is no joint rental agreement obviously in our names since her parents are supporting us. What can we do about that?

It's not required but it helps. Not everyone has a joint lease agreement. What you can do, though, is have her parents write up and notarize a statement saying you both live with them.

12.11.2010 - Interview letter received - 01.13.11
01.13.2011 - Interview - no decision on the spot
01.24.2011 - Approved! Card production ordered!

11.02.2012 - Mailed I-751 packet to VSC
11.08.2012 - Checks cashed
11.10.2012 - NOA1 received, dated 11.06.2012

You have no timeline so I am not sure where you are in the process or what visa you are adjusting from. If this is for AOS, you would not need that information until you have an interview, if you have one. Not all K-1s adjusting status get called for an interview. You have time to gather info after you file. You can get your in-laws to sign a notarized statement attesting to the fact that you are indeed married and currently living in their home.

As you are adjusting from a B2 you WILL have an interview and you need to send this relationship evidence with your I-130/I-485 paperwork.

Hi, My husband and I are in the same situation. We had my mother in law and sister in law write an affidavit (almost like a letter stating we both live at their apartment and since when, plus we asked them to testify as to our legitimate marriage). Went to a notary. They showed their IDs, signed and dated the affidavit in front of the notary and she stamped it. Cost $1 to notarize each of them. Just make sure whomever does an affidavit is a US citizen or legal US resident. Since my mother in law was in and out, for fun we timed my sister in law. In 45.5 seconds it was notarized and ready to go lol
