Does anyone know whether it is allowed to work freelance, from home, for a foreign, non-US employer before having received the official work permit?

The situation is the following: I have the opportunity to keep working for my current employer once I have moved to the US, on a freelance basis. Obviously I want to make sure that conforms to US immigration rules...

That's fine. As long as you're working for a foreign company being paid in your foreign account that's fine. You will need to file taxes though and declare the foreign income.

IF you bring the money here, you have to include it in your tax filing and you can claim a foreign tax credit (most likely) be careful or get professional help with the taxes.

Is this officially allowed, or some sort of loophole that one can work for a foreign employer without work authorization? For some reason, it seems impossible to find this information on any embassy or visa office's website.

Thank you all for the help! :)
