Hi there,

This is a question about a good friend of mine. On part 2 of form N-400 (Information about your eligibility), Items:

C:I am applying on the basis of qualifying military service.

D: Other(Explain)

Who can apply on military service base? If someone working for military NOT active duty, can he/she still apply, can a military member apply for citizenship at any time as soon as he/she becomes permanent resident, Dose this person have to wait for 5 years?

Other , what category people fit in this option, what explanation they require?

My friend is a green card holder, living in the US for 2 years, has been working for the US military as a vendor (NOT Active duty), his question is If he can get a recommendation letter from his Army general that he has been working for the US Army and he is a loyal person, Would this expedite his application now instead of waiting another 3 years? Can he apply for his citizenship now under ‘’OTHER’’ option?

My step daughter is thinking about this. She just arrived from Russia on her immigration visa.

She was told she needed a green card and would be eligible for citizenship in one year. It is my impression that you must be in the military not just a civilian working for the military to gain this benefit.

If at first you don't succeed, then sky diving is not for you.

Someone stole my dictionary. Now I am at a loss for words.

If Apple made a car, would it have windows?

Ban shredded cheese. Make America Grate Again .

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.  Deport him and you never have to feed him again.

I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

I went bald but I kept my comb.  I just couldn't part with it.

My name is not Richard Edward but my friends still call me DickEd

If your pet has a bladder infection, urine trouble.

"Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow."

I fired myself from cleaning the house. I didn't like my attitude and I got caught drinking on the job.

Carrots improve your vision.  Alcohol doubles it.

A dung beetle walks into a bar and asks " Is this stool taken?"

Breaking news.  They're not making yardsticks any longer.

Hemorrhoids?  Shouldn't they be called Assteroids?

If life gives you melons, you might be dyslexic.

If you suck at playing the trumpet, that may be why.

Dogs can't take MRI's but Cat scan.

You guys have any idea of what exactly ''OTHER'' mean or what explanation should a person come up with to be eligible to that option, Don't you all think that ''OTHER'' means, If someone works for military and get an official recommendation letter from his/her top commander in field saying ''If you can use your discretion by granting him/her citizenship since he/she is an employee and have been working with us in very crucial moments of army projects .........’’? If I am wrong then what category is ''OTHER''?

I don't know what "other" would be, but I can understand the 1 year to citizenship as an incentive to join the military and as one of the perks.
