POE Question

My POE is going to be Miami FL. I intend to stay there for 5 days and complete a job interview and then fly to Portland OR where my husband is. My question is, is it ok doing this or is it necessary to fly to Portland immediately since that will be the address I will be stating as where I intend to stay.

The other question is, what happens to the chest x-ray given to us? Does it travel with us to the USA or its journeys is over after the visa interview? That is something I really dont want to carry everywhere. It is so huge.

I don't see a problem you staying in Miami for 5 days. You won't be living there. No big deal. As far as the x-rays go, I have no idea. Maybe someone else can chime in on this.

I would be interested to know the answer to this also, and what about the medical exam? Does that travel also, or is that part of the 'Do Not Open' envelope?

You can stay in FL, I dont see a problem there, however just keep in mind the explanation that you give to the immigration officer - remeber you are not eligible to work straight away u still need to do sme paper work before you can work - so if you tell them that u are stoppin here for a job interview they might question.

On carrying the X-ray, I dont think it is required - I didnt carry mine. You do need to carry your shot records. You will have to show them to a local doctor for getting your medical supplement done for filing AOS.

All the best.

Cheers.

At POE you will definitely be asked why you are getting off at Miami instead of Portland. Just explain the same to them and it should be fine.

Take your X-ray with you along with the Vaccination sealed envelope and Consulate Visa sealed envelope and give the X-ray only if asked - the sealed envelopes are to be given at POE.

"USCIS payment website" is incorrect, the payment portal is to the NVC. Additionally, in recent times people are still able to sign into the payment portal after receiving a Case Complete from the NVC.

OP is elligible to work. As he is on CR-1 visa. You get I-551 stamp in your passport, which is the same as GC.

No problem staying in Miami. Make sure you get a nice sexy tan as it will be difficult in Portland this time of year. B-) Keep everything. You never know. The xray is big but if you do not need to go thru a medical exam here, I doubt you will ever use. Slip it in under your clothes in your baggage. My wife came in on K 1 but even when she went for her medical the doctor just took a quick glance and it sits in my closet now collecting dust. Sealed envelope stays sealed. To be given in at POE. Best of luck on your trip.

why yes, they will !

it will be further sealed inside the Visa Packet that you will be hand carrying during your trip.

Don't lose it, as it contains yer entire casefile.

Remember, DoS has decided to use you as a pigeon carrier, to get your casefile back to the USA.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
