Thats what they told us yesterday on the phone, wait time is 12-18 months...

Ha, if that's the case, I guess we are just going to be either waiting till the very end to hear from them and scramble to fix problem if there are any, or their perfect excuse to get you deported if you can't afford a lawyer.

Nice way to screw with us USCIS.

What happens after the Conditional GC expires and you are waiting on application? Can you travel, stay legal, etc?

I'm hoping the call center advisor gave J&N79 a random number they just made up in their head. We all know we have 1 year after the expiration of the conditional card, but if it took someone 18 months to be approved then they would be out of status for 3 months?

I guess you're supposed to keep getting stamps to keep yourself in status. Although in all honesty, I think you're all better off ignoring the time specifications USCIS gives out - it will drive you insane more than anything. That's why I try to be skeptical both when it comes to good news (such as their supposedly being back to 6 months) and to bad news (the whole 18 month thing which surely has to be a huge exaggeration).

And I'll bet you anything that after waiting over 9 months for the I751, now that I'm filing the N400, they'll start telling me that the I751 wasn't adjudicated in their normal processing time because I have an N400 process going on..... :bonk:

That sucks for those of us who have to drive 100 miles to get to an office! :bonk: Like you say though, it has to be an exaggeration.

I thought if you applied for N400 they had to adjudicate your I-751 first? Have you had any news on whether they have or have not lost your file?

Sorry about the distance to the office. At least that's one thing that I have going for me, my office is 20 mins away.

If you apply for the N400 they are supposed to adjudicate the I751 in time for the N400 interview. However, it seems that the USCIS sometimes freezes processing of the I75 until the N400 interview takes place. This means I'd not get my I751 approval before the N400 interview, which SHOULD take place around February-April next year (hardly dare to guess my timelines anymore after this last experience, haha). Of course, I don't really need the permanent GC for any practical purpose before that time anyway - it's more wanting peace of mind than anything.

And no, don't really know anything new about my file.
