Gee Stina... I just move here and now you want to leave?!!! :o:blink::crying:

I have to agree with Daniel... I'd love to go to New Mexico, and that was a possiblity because of White Sands, but there weren't any jobs there at the time I took this job.

Even though you want to leave Florida... I am very happy I moved here, and can see us staying for a long time. :)

looks like you bro robert found a home for awhile

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Sorry Robert... :(:P

I know, I was thinking of you and ET when I started this thread. I didn't want to send the wrong message since you both are new here in the sunshine state. :D You both got really good jobs here so I don't think you'll have problems.

And plus, you moved from an even more expensive place so this will definitely be better for you.

Don't get me wrong, FL is a cool place to live for many reasons. But I've been here 22 years and I think it's time for a change. Time for new scenery/climate. And lower cost of living elsewhere makes moving look even better. But there are certain things about FL I'd miss. Not really the weather tho!

No worries Stina! :) I completely understand, and if I had already been here that long, I would probably feel the same way. 10 years is the most I've ever lived anywhere, and even then, I kept changing homes! I am not one to settle down in one place for long, but I'm getting tired of moving, and am ready to stay put for awhile.

What ever happens, I wish you and Suj the best. What makes you guys happy is what's important, and if that means moving, then thats what you gotta do. :luv:

I have lived here in Florida for about 16 years all together...my home state is Mississippi, I moved to Florida when I was 17 years old. I consider Florida my home now, but I still have this blasted accent, it is not nearly as bad as it was, but you can still tell I am from a southern state even though I have been surrounded by Northerners for 16 years now. Once you get an accent, it is hard to get rid of it..especially if you are born with it. But, you know I really don't mind my accent because it is a part of me and who I am. So, I guess it is just how you look at it. Accents are just accents. I don't see anything wrong with southern accents personally, I think they are charming. Redneck accents are a different story......... there is a big difference, that is for sure. I would never leave Florida now that I have lived here for so long, like I said it is now my home. I think it is the only place that I would ever feel comfortable now.

Don't worry, we're still happy to be here. This beats Cincinnati any day of the week and twice on a cold winter morning. If we had a chance and good opportunity back in Nashville, we'd pack in a heartbeat, though. Love that city.

I was just listing my honest feelings on the matter of moving there. Honestly if you gripe about the UK then how can you be mad at anyone else griping about a new place? :P

Because I'm leaving the UK, not trying to move to it.

I still don't get the weirdness regarding southern accents, but I wouldn't want my kids to talk like someone from New Jersey, so I guess it's a two-way street.

Ahh, so now you admit it! See! :P So now your right to be offended is deleted.:innocent:

Not really. I have no plans to move to New Jersey, hence there is no chance that they'll acquire that accent. However, you're trying to move to Alabama but want your kids not to sound local. Bit of a difference there.

*sips a mint julep*

Hmm ok if you say so. ;)

You do realize that at this point I'm merely yanking your chain. :D

Look into Alberquerque(sp) NM. Lots of chillies there to help you prepare proper dinners for your hubby.

Prolly not as cheap as 'Bama though.

Daniel

:energetic:

Another place I'd like to visit. My dad lived there for a couple years when he was a teenager (he had run away from his home in Philly and stayed in Alb for a couple years. :innocent: ). So I've always heard stories about it. He liked it but eventually went back to Philly to be with the family.

Oh well if it would help me continue to make proper dinners, I should seriously consider it.

My second cousin has a restaurant in Santa Fe, he could teach you. :star:

Good question Gupt...(racism in quotes)

To show why we think it's a good idea to move to this area...

In 2-3 years we could probably make at least $30K profit on our house because our area still is growing. It has slowed dramatically from last summer, but it's still slowly moving up.

If we put all $30K down on this house, our mortgage would be only $49,900!! Which would be $300-something/ month. And there are jobs in the Birmingham area that pay almost as much as in Tampa, where Sujeet works, and our monthly mortgage payment(which includes tax+insurance) here is $1120/month. Now if the jobs in Birmingham or Huntsville payed half the Tampa pay, we wouldn't think of going there. But that does not seem to be the case. Imagine what we can do with all the extra money and how much we can save for things.

And I think this house is ADORABLE!!! (3 bedroom/2 bath)

212846_114031.jpg

Florida houses are so blehhh to me. But I guess it's because I grew up here. I want a cozy country looking house. (L)

Prolly wouldn't be 300/mo cos it's based on things that we have no control over what number they'll be at in 3 years' time. Things like interest rates/insurance/taxes....in theory, it's a good thing on paper, but the situation can drastically change a lot in a few years.

Good luck tho guys :)

I would guess Alabama real estate will stay cheap for the time being, at least relative to the rest of the country. It's a safe bet.

Has nowt to do with the price of the house, but the terms which affect what a payment is going to be.

Borrowing 50k - depending on terms - could fluctuate a payment amount easily a few hundred

Yes...interest rates could go up, but the house prices themselves probably won't increase by much, if at all.
