but we have temperatures in the 60s and 70s and sunshine, pretty much every "winter" day. Although I would get a conceil-and-carry permit if I could -- just because -- given the choice to freeze with a gun in Alaska or to enjoy outside activities without a firearm in my holster in sunny Southern California I choose the latter one.

But everyone his own. I'm a huge fan of Vermont's up-and-coming "socialized" healthcare, but not enough to put up with the horrible weather -- yet.

The weather is only horrible in the winter. Sort of like the tire is only flat on the bottom. The summer is to die for! You forget about winter until about....now. Yeah, about now.

I carry concealed when we go to the beach, it is a matter of choosing the correct firearm for the situation, I have perhaps 2 dozen to choose from for that purpose and more than are kind of out of the question size wise. Sort of like matching shoes to your purse...well, sort of.

BTW Vermont already has "socialized medicine"in a way, it is just not the "single payer" type which I think will be better. It is more like Obamacare. Hasn't been all that great which is why they are scrapping it as they know Obamacare generally sucks and can only get worse when applied on a national scale. They have alrady applied for the "opt-out" of Obamacare.

I think rather those that feel they have to pack something extra "just in case" are the ones suffer those inadequacies. Not all those that own firearms feel the need to take them with them everywhere they go, nor do they suffer such "performance anxieties".
