I vote not. You can still own all the weapons you want, you just can't have them with you everywhere you go.

Let me fix that for you:

Mind you, using Gary's reference, I don't trust other drivers either...so there you go.

I don't. Most of the folks driving are complete idiots. Give them all handguns, and we all have a Los Angeles freeway commute.

It would be useful just in case we cross into another state and don't realize that the gun is in trunk.

It's a felony in most places and easily done

I bet Hawaii would object to people flying in with guns - its very strict there

I don't know why coz those whales can be very big and aggressive

Of course is MR O was from Hawaii and not Kenya as some people say, then he might be able to persuade them to accept it

I don't trust other people to safely handle firearms in public. So I agree.

But if we are going to be living like that as a society, then I feel I don't have much choice but to carry myself.

I don't trust a cop to jump in front of me if I am robbed any more than I trust a fireman to jump between me and something that caught fire. In that regard, guns are like fire extinguishers - we hope we never need them but if we do, nothing can take its place in time.

Many criminals don't carry them either. They don;t want to do the time, and they can always use yours, so nice of you to bring it with you.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

If a criminal is not carrying a gun he is of no threat to me. However those who do not want to do time are not scared by the laws about guns, they simply shoot the witnesses. otherwise we'd have seen a huge drop in crime when they made it illegal to use guns to commit them. Last I checked, stores are still robbed with guns.

And to your last point, if I have a gun and the bad guy does not, how do you propose he relive me of my firearm? This could completely change the entire self-defense world!

Things happen very fast. On the range we shoot at 12 feet or whatever expecting the assailant to come trotting towards us shouting I am going to attack you.

In the real world, a man in a business suite is walking alongside you on a busy street in a nice district at mid-day when he links arms and presses a knife against your ribs. You have zero time to respond.

He will take your wallet and gun and kill you if you go for it

If you are unarmed he will take your wallet - big deal. I have a concealed permit but I don't carry it for protection against people - that is too dangerous.

I would much rather have my wallet stolen than have a dead body at my feet and a cop car pulling up - can you imagine what happens then ? We would much prefer losing our wallet if we could turn the clock back

We must lose the fantasy and think it through in reality and winning a gun fight is still a horrible position to be in compared with having to call and cancel our credit cards

A lot of american men seem obsessed about having their botty interfered with - but the speedofiles are more interested in boy scouts

On the main topic, I'd rather the country as a whole either allow CCW or not, the patchwork is frustrating and this law will make even more frustrating.

How?

Have you read the bill? It actually makes it much easier particularly for someone traveling.

While they are at it , they should have a national driver's license with revenue collected locally as now.

I have had 3 different driver's licenses since I have been here and I cant see the point

I'd rather California either allow or disallow completely. Its already frustrating that someone from one county can carry in my county yet I cannot. That frustration grows further when say a Nebraskan can come here with one, yet i can not carry myself.

Your criminals wear business suits? Must be nice in Washington state. No one walks beside me, I have this thing called "personal space" and if a person enters it I move over to give them room. This can be on an elevator or when walking down the street. Anywhere. So your scenario is not plausible and I woul dbe on very high alert if anything close to that started to happen. With that in mind I expect to be robbed by the guy sitting next to me in the movie theater now.

In the real world, criminals don't walk beside you in business suits. The try to intimidate you, and they may have a few friends to accompany them.

But let's move on. A guy pulls a knife and wants my watch and wallet. Hey no problem! The watch is insured and nothing in the wallet can be of use to you, it can only be evidence to help find you. So have at it. In fact my watch is insured for the full retail price, not the depreciated price. You just saved me money from selling it third party!

Now you said he'd kill me if I go for me gun. I tend to agree, so long as he is within about 15 feet of me which is likely. And I go for the gun. So he gets my watch and my wallet, the gun stays concealed. As long as my life is never in danger it will never come out of its hiding place. No "stuff" I carry on my person is worth killing another person over. It's just stuff.

I recently read an article where a woman was being robbed but the bad guy had trouble finding the wallet in her purse. She said let me get it for you, and he handed her the purse. She reached in and pulled the trigger of the pistol inside, killing him. She was correct in not pulling the gun out or trying to order him around, take conterol of the situation of being a cop in general. If I need to use mine the bad guy will never see it.

Bottom line is that for every 100 shootings there are 100 different scenarios. It has been proven that a good guy having a gun is about all that can combat a bad guy having a gun. Don't pull your gun to save your watch, a car, or a stranger. I recall a good samaritan who pulled a gun on a stranger beating up a woman and he was shot and killed. He knew nothing of the situation. Heck even trained cops hate domestics and for good reason!

And yes it is waaaay too east to get a gun and carry it, imho. Check youtube. One woman says she likes the gun with the wheel thing. WHEEL THING. She means revolver. If she has to pull that gun out in a tough corner I feel she is going to have a few issues. Maybe.

But that should not change the rights of others to defend themselves. Remember, when seconds count, cops are only minutes away!

Ar-15 with three times 30 round mags and my own loading kit - and just up the road from CA.

We were thinking of moving to Illinois - well Chicago - and the local city laws pre-empt the state laws so you can drive 20 miles and go from legal to felon to legal to felon several times over in a twenty mile trip as you pass through various cities.

So we scratched that idea. The whole thing is a mess and the proposed law would only apply to pocket rockets and not real rifles
