I have to agree with you. The socialised policies of the Crown bankrupted the British Empire ultimately resulting in the loss of the pound sterling as the world's reserve currency.

If it wasn't for being a small set of islands (that are really four separate states) the UK would probably be no more. And lets not forget about Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and the numerous dependant states around the world. The fact is, socialism cannot sustain an empire. Broken up over several states, it can continue. But, on the whole, it's a failing policy.

And we're not talking ancient history, either.

The United States is on the same path. It won't be long and the dollar will fall to the yuan as the reserve currency and only if we're lucky (and haven't given it all away by then) will we remain The United States. More than likely we'll end up like the UK, effectively ending MOST of the socialism and passing it on to separate states to deal with it independently.

This legislation is both good and bad. Good because when I travel I go to a huge wallet I have and pull out my CCW cards for the states I will be in. If I drive I check my route, then go to the web and check reciprocity to see if they are still in agreement. With one old route I took I'd have to stop at the state line, disarm by locking my firearm in the trunk, then go through the state only to re-arm on the other side. It's just the way the system is, and it makes boatloads of money for Utah.

This law simply makes my permit from my home state good all over the country. The bad? Interestingly enough, my home state allows three specific firearms only (listed by serial number even), while other states don't care what I carry. Some states allow open carry but if you have a CCW you can no longer do that. Some states allow me to be armed up to the ticket counter inn an airport, others don't allow a CCW on any airport property. Therefore I see a few issues arising because of these technicalities. And in order to smooth out these technicalities the feds may get involved like they did with the highway system. Good or bad? Time will tell.

Well I am more pro 'socialized medicine' than anyone in this country. For that reason I will be voting Obama and funding his campaign and buying his bumper stickers.

I am ambivalent on unions but I would not ban them and only restrict them slightly

I made my money in industry, on the Finance side, so capitalism is what I do. I manage my investments 4 hours every day.

The majority of your views, save health care are along the lines of moderate Republicans. Some of the religious fringe and the other fringe right wing groups may disagree with some of your views, but for the most part they are reasonable positions to hold. I ask though why you continue to vilify and assail opposing view points and paint every R as a right wing, militia member, bible carrying, Obama hating separatist rather than find consensus on the issues that we are in agreement with? That is the One thing the "authorities" cannot handle...Unity. Their game is sponsored by separatism. Unite and the whole country wakes up! Occupy awakening, but when you are buying their sh!t: hook, line and sinker and then spewing venom at everyone with an opposing view you play into their hands. Wake up!

I don't belong to a church. The main threat to the country are greedy, corrupt politicians. If the POTUS was assassinated today? One I hope that wouldn't happen and he end up as martyr. IMHO That would be the worst thing that could happen, as some of his more "radical" plans may be enacted in his honor. Second, I would hope that Biden did the right thing and resigned immediately or brought in one of the Clinton's or Gingrich someone who knows politics and the art of compromise.

This pepper spraying incident is not the first time that cops have looked really bad for their enforcement decisions regarding OWS. I think in this type of civil disturbance they are encountering something entirely new. No longer will people surrender to the cops, or simply go home when fire hoses are turned on them. the police actions are simply adding fuel to the fire. The funny thing is, don't they know that? They sure need some PR people involved in these decisions! Tactics of old are not going to cut it any more. I think they simply do not know what to do in this case.
