K-1 is not a spousal visa, but the I-134 has no clear cut requirements and as such the rules for the I-864 are generally followed, including needing 125% instead of 100% and 3 times instead of 5. You will be getting married and need to have 125% for AOS, and so the 3 times for spouses also is generally applied. K-1 is a non-immigrant visa that is usually treated as an immigrant visa when going through the consulates. K-1 falls in a weird hole, and is considered an immediate relative for the purposes of the affidavit of support and therefore only 3 times the amount is needed. If you are needing to use assets, then contact your consulate and simply ask them if you would need to show 3 or 5 times the amount since all consulates vary on how they do things.

I know what the VJ guides say, but they are not quite correct on this aspect. If you want more info about the 3 or 5 times debate and want to hear it from VJ members that have been here longer and have more experience, then stick this in the VJ search box and read more about it: 3 times or 5 times assets for I-134
