Hi all, I am very new at this and I had few questions I wanted to ask? First off all on the affidavit of support form under the section where you have to put how much you have currently in your savings. Does anyone know the max amount they look at or you need to have on their in order to be approved? Also another question is when the household size is counted is it only your income or everyone that lives in the house hold etc.... parents? or is it just my income? Any advice will help thanks and good luck to alll :)

They look at current income.

They do not add up other people in the house only your income.

You need to make the income requirement for 2 people if its just you and the beneficiary.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

If you don't make enough you need to get a co-sponsor who then has to make enough for the house hold they live in plus your fiance.

1.) put what you have in your savings, if you want to deposit more to make it look better, than by all means go for it. It can help. As long as you make 125% over poverty level, you're in the clear.

2.) This needs a little more clarification. Are you living at home with your parents? Do they claim you on their tax returns? If you file your own returns, do you claim anyone? Do you have children you pay child support for?

I'll attempt to answer this:

A) if you file your own returns and you live with your parents, your household size is 2, you and your SO

B) if you have any children that are paying or receiving child support for your household size would be X number of kids + you + your SO

C) if you claim anyone on your taxes, mother, father, grandparents, cousin, brother, sister, they are included in your household size

Here is a chart for the poverty level guidelines according to household size.

Right. Your household size is 2, so you have to make over $18,387.00

If you use a co-sponsor then the co-sponsor's household size becomes co-sponsor+ any dependents + the intended immigrant.

For example: mom is the co-sponsor, she files joint taxes with dad. So their household size becomes 3. mom+dad+immigrant=3 guide line is over $23,162.00

woowww that seems like alottt hmmm :/

Not really. Its not exactly cheap to live in the USA and you are responsible for this person. You have to prove they will not use government benefits that they are not entitled to.

19,000 x 5 = 95,000

just use the calculator on your computer lol good.gif

95,000 for 2 people does not last long on bills, food etc.
