Oh and with the marijuana, we were worried about this as well. They did however not charge her with any crime, nor did they make her inadmissible. Our lawyer explained that it could be something they ask about, but most likely won't be an issue since there were no charges filed and we promptly paid the promissory note for it. He said if they would have made her inadmissible at the time, it would be a whole different story. Since they continued to let her cross the border (many times) he said it shouldn't be an issue with her immigration.

I'm not an Immigration Officer, nor do I play one on TV. But my honest opinion; It will be brought up, but if it is like you said, she was not charged, did not go to jail, did not have a seat in front of a judge, promptly deported and banned from the US for life, you should be ok.

Now, if she was trafficking a kilo of coke, went to jail for a few years, and her prior name was George, you might have real issues! (I kid)

Some of us have done things in our stupid youth, that thankfully, have NOT come back to haunt us :innocent: Except for that time I pulled into secondary for an underage drinking charge from 17 years previous.... but I digress...

Continue with your wedding, I hope it's a wonderful day for the two of you!!

(the 26th is my youngest daughter's 8th birthday :) ) Apply for Adjustment of Status, do everything from now on, on the up and up and before you know it, you'll be living that happily ever after!

My two cents on the proof. Her mom could make a notarized statement that she (and whoever else might be involved) surprised the two of you with her generous gift. I'm sure some of your acquaintances are aware of how that all came about, have them write letters to support your claim. It can't hurt - it might only help.

Her repeated border-crossings show that she (and you) were truthful each time going back and forth. I would apply after the wedding. Congratulations! (it is coincidentally my birthday on the 26th - I shall have a drink to your continued health and wish you all the best!)

All done ;-)

So great to see the birthdays on our big day!! Love it!! (L)

And yes, I'm sure her mother could do such a notarized statement. Also all my friends could as well if need be. As for the border, yes, we did it legit each and every time. After spending all that time in secondary it was almost like second nature. We knew every time we were going, and the guy in the guard house would often say "You know the drill". It was rather amusing at times.

The good thing is that they gave her I-94's all the time. She never once stayed past her I-94 date and always turned it back in to the US side on the way back to Canada. Also, I was always with her because she can't drive, doesn't have a license even. The only time we stayed over her I-94 was last winter during that crazy snow storm in Sarnia that closed down the 402. We even went to the US side and asked what to do, and they told us to go back to Michigan and gave her an I-94 extension.

I think you're good. All of us who AOS'd were totally freaked out, and coming up with 500 reasons why they would deny us. It really isn't a big deal. Not sure if I put it on here, but my interview was about 10 minutes and easy as pie, I felt they had basically pre-approved me. The whole process took about 3.5 months. If you have proof of relationship (joint bank account is a biggie) you should be fine. Congratulations and good luck!
