You think "waiting" is bad at this stage.. wait until she arrives.. that's when the stress really sets in..

For me, waiting for the visa was stressful, but once My "now wife" arrived and I watched her adjust to the US culture, and saw her crying and crying from home sickness, that's where real stress lies..

Not everyone is the same, but, it seems to me waiting for the visa, is only the beginning...

Best wishes for everyone..

Kenny

Wow, I agree that homesickness can really set in and culture shock will take the cake. It can be stressing, however when you have your loving spouse to help you through it, it gets better over time.

My advice would be stop reading the timelines forget about people after you who are getting approved ,make plan on visiting your fiance(e) if you have the means to do it ,Show your loved one how much u loved by emails phone calls Skype ,find something fun to do with your fiance(e) through the (phone,skype,chat...etc) Try to read books together ,Online games ,puzzles together or just discuss ideas, issues that you think your partner might be interested in , believe God is great and when the time is your time for your NA02 No one can delay it ,Or else you ll be living every second in hell burning your nerves and your time ,Hope this help I was pissed off onece myself ; I m hitting the 5 month point and the whole process is challenging

Uliana, a whole bunch of good advice in there. Thank you!

Commit to doing yoga. It saved me. It became like religion for me! it allows you to release so much pain like you never imagined you even had. I used to be a "yoga is for hippies!" type, but I was desperate to do SOMETHING other than self destructive things. Really, it really is amazing! It even relieved my headaches when nothing else did! Buy a good mat! :) try and relax! there's nothing you can do right now. OTher things may include focusing on developing the relationships with the people around you because your life is about to change big time and it may not be as easy to do once that happens. Write letters, read a book, exercise, take a class..... good luck to you. Hope you find relief soon. I feel for you!

You know, maybe I'll give yoga a try... more good advice. Thanks!

My husband and I will be okay somedays, but then the stress of waiting for everything overloads and we just start crying, then it turns into laughter. We might be going insane but we still love each other.

Mrs. Nelson, BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT! HA! I thought I was the only one. I thought I was going insane because we've gotten into disagreements about who misses who more, and then we laugh at how stupid that is.

Kenny,

I know you're probably right, but shhhhhhhh. I'm not ready to deal with that yet. ;-) Any insight as to how long that stage lasts?

See how many guns you can buy (and thus how many clear background checks you can amass!) in the time it takes USCIS to give you a single clear background check.

(I keed! I keed!)

Everybody has a hard time with this, and in the long run, half a year or a year isn't that much out of a lifetime together! Take advantage of the time as best you can. Keep busy and think about the good things....like, how happy you'll be when you are together again. :)

and yes, I agree about the homesickness! I've even lived here before, and went to school in this city, and I'm finding now that after being gone for two years I still have a hard time adjusting!! It does get easier though! its the not working thing, so any activities you can get your non-US partner into is a great idea! get them involved in the community if you can. :)
