Embassy sending documents to my fiance after the interview

Its been almost 2 months since my fiance's interview in Jordan (he interviewed there because the embassy in Damascus is closed). They asked him for additional information at the end of the interview and its been taking us all this time to get the papers because of the terrible bureaucracy in Syria and the danger from the government.

This morning, the consular section called my fiance to tell him that they are sending him something via a delivery service, and to expect a call from the delivery service in a few days. What could this be?!?! I haven't read anything anywhere about the embassy sending something after the interview.....

Please please please give us an idea of what these papers could be and if this might be a positive or negative thing.

Did he leave his passport with them for them to put the visa in once approved?

Nope. So I know its not the visa.

I tried calling the embassy and, as usual, they would not let me speak with anyone. And it takes them forever to answer emails, so he will have the package by the time they actually respond to the email. Ugh.

I feel sick.

Would they be sending a request for MORE information (more than what they wanted at the end of his interview)?

They have always corresponded directly with me via email, so why now are they sending a package to him?

Well lets hope since something is being sent to him it is a request for his passport.......Would DOS know anything?

Do you think DOS would be the best people to contact? As far as I know the case hasn't been approved for AP yet, so I'm guessing its still in embassy's hands and not DOS. Although the line between the two is not very defined, so I very well could be wrong.

We still have a paper to send them which was requested at the end of his interview, but like I mentioned before, its been completely impossible to get (we're still working on it, pulling out all the connections either of us have in every country in the middle east...). But its not a paper that is normally required, and they did not tell us ahead of time that he would need it at the interview.

Thanks for the response, though! It makes me feel better knowing that someone is at least reading my panic attack.

After our petition was sent to the consulate it was DOS that we contacted for any information about it. The Montreal consulate does not accept phone calls either and emails are not always answered.......If I were you I would try calling DOS and see if they might know.

I hope you can get the paper that they requested at the interview.

Our interview was September 25th, and this is a paper that they never said they needed (and we brought just about every paper you could possibly imagine). They say they need to know if he is dodging his military service, which he is not because he is a full time student and is not required to serve until he graduates. He brought his military book which shows he has never served, but that wasn't enough for them.

Its not a matter of being prepared for the interview, because our interview is over and has been for a long time. Could they be needing MORE information other than what they originally requested on the 221g that we received after the interview? I'm worried because its so impossible to get ANY sort of official paperwork due to the current situation. Just stepping foot into a government office is incredibly unsafe.

It was another 221(g) paper -- this one saying that we are in AP now. This is not unexpected....its just sort of frustrating that they made my fiance pay the equivalent of $25 to be told something that we already knew was coming...
