Tokyo Embassy Request for Interview

Hey all!

I have a question about the form to fill out for setting up the interview appointment at the embassy.

Question 8 on this page here -> http://japan2.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-ivapptrequest.html asks for an intended date of travel ( I assume to the US ). At the beginning of the page they recommend that you do not make any travel plans until after the interview... so I am a little confused on what they actually want here.

Are they wanted just a grey-area guess on when you think you might want to go to the U.S. or are they asking in case you already have a date set up? Are they trying to use this to base a sense of urgency?

What have other people put for this question?

I appreciate any input.

Thanks.

I filled that form myself, and put in a date that was a guess around when we would be moving to the US.

I doubt the embassy cares about how much urgency an applicant may or may not have.

Like Yagisama, the date I put was just a guess of when I could fly to US. Just make sure it's within six months of the visa's possible date of issuance.
