The funniest thing about Democrats is they hate businesses yet they've convinced workers it's in their best interest to be a Democrat.

My family wasn't anti business as they were pro worker. Back then the Dems weren't nearly as liberal as they are now. My gran dad came from a time when people got their heads busted up for crossing a picket line. It was do or die and you laid it on the line, not like a lot of the p^ssies you see today in the union. I can remember my dad and uncles talking about how they burnt up peoples trucks/cars for not abiding by the rules. In fact my dad's claim to fame is shutting down the Alaska pipe line for a few hours when the contractor used a laborer and not a pipe fitter for running a pig through the lines which consisted of taking a 3' pipe wrench every hour and turning it clock wise. My dad had the guys walk off the job until the contractor flew in a fitter from Fairbanks or Anchorage to do that job. But there again it was pipe fitters work by contract and if you give an inch one day, you lose a mile the next day. It's hard to explain it to anyone who hasn't had to deal with that kind of stuff. For some reason a lot of Americans these days think making less money is helping out the country. It's like they want to be punked by the man. The man makes a ####### load of money, and he will screw the worker any chance he gets in order to make more money. Yes some unions are bad...UAW and Boeing Machinist comes to mind a long with the Longshormans union. But not all unions are like that. The pipe fitters have taken large cuts the past 20+ years and some unions have even purchased stock options in companies they work for to keep them alive. And those companies didn't start to go tits up from paying wages, they went in the red for giving themselves big fat bonuses.

Good story - there are plenty of lefties I don't like because of their extremism. Michael Moore is too far left for me and he is an American ! I would never have thought I would come across an American left of me because the Democrats are 2 light years right of the British conservative party who love and support and defend socialized medicine.

My ex wife's Dad was a real communist and had a bust of Lenin on his mantlepiece. He bought it in Moscow.

Basically its the hatred factor that I don't like - whether it comes from the right, or the left, or from religion

The commies are wrong and plenty of them are haters, but at least the motives are for universal welfare, whereas the right are for the individual, and let the others die in pain and poverty and hard luck

So as wrong as the commies are, and as hateful as they can be, I still lean left rather than right - but not too far unless its health care - and then I lean ALL the way.

I'm a "conservative Democrat" and there's still a few of us around. The commies were the biggest butchers known to man kind. Somehow anyone that leans Dem is labeled anti American these days. IMO Bush was the biggest anti American of them all.

10 years ago our views were looked down on as minority and out of step. Now we have a half black democratic President - more than half the country voted left wing half black ! Who could have imagined that 10 years ago. Things are going our way, albeit too slowly

Education, enlightenment, learning, the mixing of cultures and more cities - its happening on the TV and the net. All that stuff is the opposite of what the right need to survive and they know it. They need small town, small minded, confined to church, under educated and threats from local business. They cannot control cities and the net with their fear tactics. That's why the right wing is rural and the net is going rural..

In 20 years time, the right wing ideas of today will be as widespread as right wing white supremacist militia groups are today - in other words - not much

TBH I think the Dems cut their throats by leaning too far left...like way to far. Same with the Repubs going so far right. That's why I'm all for a third party that fits somewhere in the middle. It's like we are left with the choice of either voting for some religious wing nut who's all about big business, or some left wing nut case who doesn't have a clue but goes for anything termed "politically correct". California Dems come to mind in that regard.

Point I am trying to make is that the prehistoric primitive apes that wrote the Crayon had no idea about life. The authors were young kids in their 20s/30s because life expectancy was pathetic back then. You didn't live to see your 50s, and you didn't live to see your 40s.

They didn't have electricity, society was not even developed. No law and order, no news agencies to keep you up to date on current affairs. Just complete apes!

But what will be the right ideas of tomorrow?

We have proof that crazy public spending extreme socialist ideas are wrong - Greece/Italy/Spain

We have proof that socialized medicine is loved by all populations that have it and its cheaper for a country (7% not17%) and so benefits the economy and companies greatly

We know both about union excesses and we know about the right wing in Wisconsin and Mississippi

People now have all the facts and a big strong powerful center is being created

President Obama has been pretty much ineffective, but he will be re-elected as he more represents the center which is where the people are now and increasingly that's where they will gravitate. The extremes are out in the open and they are too scary.

As a reassurance to the right wing, they should look at the policies of the UK conservative government which are a LONG WAY left of Mr O. So it isn't that bad.

The gun shop owners must be laughing their socks off. They manged to create an O scare and sold a billion guns - and nothing happened ! Their scare worked. - but now they are going bust coz even my cat has an AK47 and they don't need any more

Peoples' religious and political views can certainly change -they are NOT set at birth. I grew up sheltered in a very catholic conservative family (politically). It was not until I went to college and couch-surfed around Europe (alone) (think Chania, Greece; Bled, Slovenia and Cashel, Ireland... smal towns, not big cities) with no cell phone, credit card or computer.... that is when my views of the world and politics changed.

People get so caught up in their tiny little lives they forget about perspective. It always has to be "white" or "black," "right" or "left." Call me old fashioned, but I swear that turning off cable news for one hour and instead writing back and forth with a pen pal from soemwhere in the world once a week would really change peoples' political and religious views.
