Hello,

I'm applying of adjustment of status, and looking for some help...

In sample form g-325a for adjustment of status (below),at the bottom of the application it reads:

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-G-325A-aos.pdf

"Applicant: Print your name and Alient Registration Number in the box outlined..."

The sample form uses the married wife's **maiden name** in this field, even though it uses the married name at the top of the application (under "Family Name").

Shouldn't the family name be used in the bottom box?

Also, regarding Alien Registration Number, I think the purpose of the form to get an Alien Registration Number. Curious why a number is provided in this field?

Thanks for your help.

It should be married name for AOS. It's been reported just not fixed.

A number is given once the K1 is approved (on the NOA2 above the beneficiaries name).

Having some issues with things that should be simple, so please excuse. Though the .gov website simply says, "G-325a" is required, others suggest BOTH husband and wife need to provide this form. So, at the bottom it requires, "Signature of Applicant." In this case, we are trying to get an AOJ/green card after a K1 and marriage. So, does the applicant (in this case the wife) sign BOTH G-325a forms, as it seems to suggest, or do each sign beneath their own data? Thanks.

Are you in US with a K-1 visa, got married and now applying for AOS?

If you answer yes to above questions, then you can use this guide in assembling your AOS packet: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Do review the corresponding forms instructions from uscis carefully for more details.

Only the beneficiary (the one adjusting status or applying for GC) will fill-out the G-325a.

When you have the time, do fill-out your VJ timeline, as it is easier for people who want to give you advice and helpful to those using the forum as well. Also, next time, you might want to post a new topic to get more and definite answers to your question, as I see this is a 3-year old thread.

Thank you, sweet cakes. Yes, K1 to get in, now married and looking for AOS. Thank you for the reply and the useful "coaching." I should know better. By the way, my wife is also from the Philippines, a blessing to find her 7,000 miles away. Grace and peace...

Wow, awesome! Your handle sounds soooo carribean. lol. All the best in the AOS forms! Don't forget to apply for I-765 and I-131 (for work and travel authorization while AOS progress is underway), as the fees are waived when applied with AOS.

There are also VJ example forms you can use as a guide in filling them out: http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples

Cheers!

Once upon a time I went to Jamaica every year. Swimming when someone said, "Wow! Your eyes are the same color as the water!" That's where the name comes from. The only remaining form is the I-131, because I have no idea how to fill it out and none of the instructions I've found are clear enough about our specific situation for me to "get it." I struggled with question 1 until I finally figured out "check box 'd'," but that didn't really help. Assumed I skipped #2, but #3 asked for specifics about a planned trip, and there isn't one. Of course, I read, "If you are applying for a non-DACA related Advanced Parole Document, skip to Part 7;" but I have no idea what a "non-DACA related document" is, the word "parole" makes no sense to me in the context of this form, so I just have been "sitting on it." It has literally held up our application, all by itself, for several weeks as I look for a very specific, "K1, now married, filling out AOS, do this." Never felt more stupid...

Check out this example form for I-131: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-131.pdf

Since your wife is applying for AP with AOS, you skip Part 3 to Part 7. In my case, after filling out the form, I wrote legibly with a pen, "unknown" and "N/A" on Part 3, Items #1 and #2, respectively.

That example helps a lot! I guess the only thing I still don't understand is "On a separate sheet of paper, explain how you qualify for an ADP..." How does she qualify? What are they looking for???

That's part 7. You don't need to provide any explanation since you're filing for an AOS at the same time. You only need to tick "more than one time" of Part 7.1. :)
