POE ATLANTA

Hello My Sister and Brother VJ'ers. I wanted to know the Nigerian experience coming thru the Atlanta Airport POE....What was the experience like, how did the employees behave, how long did it take and if you have any suggestions to prepare for the event. I appreciate your thoughts on the issue. Have a wonderful week!

it took me 3 1/2 hours to get through Atlanta airport when i visited at Christmas... it was nothing to do with the staff though... i just got totally lost haha

Atlanta is nice as a mid sized airport. You will go down to the immigration areas and get in the lines for the inspection. It can go fairly quickly unless a lot of international traffic is arrive at that moment. Then you will go collect you bags and take them for inspection. Once inspected you drop them back off to be rechecked unless this is the end of your trip. AVIOD the temptation to bring any live food(plant, meat, seeds ) as they will take them away from you.

Atlanta POE is fine I come thru it all the time as I live there. The traffic depends on how many international flights arrived at the same time and as long as he does not have foods such as snails(french call it escargot just to make it sound sexy),chicken or livestock he will be fine because those kind of foods will be confisicated. Although he will have to reclaim his baggages for his connecting flight. Tell him to just follow the signs for baggae claim and take the train which will announce every stop till he gets to baggae claim.

when i flew in to Atlanta i had already collected my bags well before i got to baggage claim... i went through customs, collected my bags, went through another security check and in to what looked like the main building with all the shops... and then i caught the train to baggage claim. i dont know if thats how it is supposed to work but i ended up really confused haha

The POE will be smooth and easy no worries he will be fine and the people in the ATL airport are very helpful if he feels he doesnt know where he is going or what to do next he should just ask someone and they will direct him...Good luck on a smooth POE

I've come thru ATL before. I know that you'd better use the train our you will walk your life away LMFO! I called myself going to try to walk it .. (yea right) bout 30min with a heavy carryon bag I jumped righ on that train.. I wish I could have rode it to my car. Thanks guys for all of your input. It's so very mind boggling when someone comes to this country for the first time. So it's the good people here on VJ that we all look to for good sound information... again.. Thank you so very much.
