everybody going thru this process is concerned bout identity theft but if we want our spouse/SO here we all have had to send our info with SSN.... its a given they want to see that information. So yeah you have to send it.

If it's at the interview your talking about then they already have it.. with all the other information you sent... taxes, forms etc...

they have enough information about you to steal your identity anyway so a ssn isnt going to make a single bit of difference... plus if they didnt need it they wouldnt ask for it

have your US Citizen subscribe to a service (Equifax, Lifelock,etc..) to lock his SSN number and have fraud alerts put on his file. It's a very effective means to deter fraud use.

Everyone has to submit SSN numbers on K1 applications which go to NVC and Embassy. It's part of the process. You have a valid concern, but, as a consumer, you can

take some action to mitigate the risk.

I was concerned too, I blocked out my SSN from every thing but the first page of my tax return. And I blocked out my kids and ex-wife SSN every where. I got approved so I guess it was ok.

Honestly, Is this question for real ? Whats a Birth Certificate supplied with your Petition. Passport Documents.

Think of a Social Security Number as WHEN YOU WERE BORN YOU ALREADY LOST YOUR IDENTITY When they printed your feet, toes and fingerprints.

The government alreadly knows more about you than you do. ID theft through this process is very minimal. You are the one who will leak you identify in normal everyday life, if you are that parnoid get lifelock, good luck. SS and USCIS share data bases to do all this stuff any one with the right access can get your social in 20 seconds.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

the people that will see your ssn can probably find out what you had for dinner last night if they really wanted to know so hiding your ssn number from them just seems totally pointless. if they want to know something about you then they will find it out
