I assume you have your conditional resident card from the filing of the CR1 visa. Starting from 90 days just preceding the expiration date on your permanent residence card you may file to remove the conditions and then receive your permanent resident card - it says permanent but I think it will still need to be renewed every 10 years.

Here is the VJ guide on removing condition

You have a conditional 2 year card. Everyone who gets their residency through a marriage to a US citizen and that marriage is less than 2 years old when the green card is approved gets a conditional 2 year card. That means you need to apply to remove the conditions on that card within the 90 day window BEFORE the green card expires. So, you do have a bit of a 'break' from immigration for a while.

The Removal of Conditions application requests a variety of evidence that proves you have a valid marriage where you have co-mingled your assets and liabilities, your financial lives, your physical lives and your social lives. You can make it easier to file that application by setting aside a box now and over the next 2 years putting into that box any sort of documentary evidence that you acquire that shows the two of you - and the children - living together as a normal family. You will need to provide evidence from the whole time period involved so by collecting it as it comes to hand and setting it aside by putting it into this box, you will have a lot of evidence available to you when the time comes and you just need to select the best. You'll be surprised how much you will acquire . Don't restrict yourself to the obvious stuff - anything that shows a normal family and spousal relationship is useful -for example, we were audited by the IRS so that went into our box - great evidence! .

Once you successfully remove the conditions on your green card you become an unconditional permanent resident and will be issued a new green card good for 10 years. Your residency doesn't expire but the green card itself does so it needs to be kept valid if you do not choose to become a citizen before then.
