Hello Vjers, please help me out here. Is Tax Returns same as Tax Transcripts. I hear the Ghana US embassy is keen on that. i will like to know if they are two different things so we could request for it. Thanks a lot

No, they are different.

The tax return is simply a copy of what you sent the IRS.

The tax transcript is documentation provided by the IRS regarding the details of the tax return you filed. Since it is a document from a government agency, it is considered more "reliable". To get the tax transcript, just go to the iRS website and under Tools, select the option to get a tax return or transcript. For my wife's AOS, I ordered transcripts for three years and they came within 10 days.

if you can send the copy and transcripts even better. They would not bother you. Make sure to make copies for you, your spouse.
