I can't find any information with regards to who visa category FX is for and the current priority date for FX. Does anybody know? All I know is that it's for old F2A files. My priority date is 6/1/2010, am I F2A or FX?

I dont know how to post a direct link to this report but if you click on this link http://www.immigration-law.com/Canada.html and scroll down to: 10/05/2011: State Department Releases Data on Annual Numerical Limits for FY-2012 and click on that link you will find a report from travel.state.gov that shows that the majority of the 88,000 F2A visas for fiscal year 2012 will go to visa category FX.

I appreciate all input about this category that I had not heard of until a few days ago.

Thank you,

Hanna

I may have figured it out by myself after I found this info online:

Second Preference:

F2-A Spouse of Permanent Resident (Married for more than 2 years)

C2-1 Spouse of Permanent Resident (Married for less than 2 years)

F2-2 Child of a Permanent Resident

C2-2 Child of a C2-1

F2-3 Child of a F2-1 or F2-2

C2-3 Child of a C2-1 or C2-2

F2-4 Unmarried Son or Daughter (21 years of age or older) of a Permanent Resident (also known as F2B)

C2-4 Unmarried Son or Daughter of a C2-1

F2-5 Child of a F2-4

FX-1 Spouse of a Permanent Resident (also considered as F2A when Priority Date is not yet current)

FX-2 Child (unmarried and under 21 years of age) of a Permanent Resident (also considered as F2A when Priority Date is not yet current)

FX-3 Child of an FX or FX2

I also found out the the December priority date for FX is 2/8/2009.

The INA laws suggest that out of the 88K visas available in the F2A preference, 75% is exempt from numerical limitation(around 65K visa) of 7% per country quota. So FX refers to the priority date irrespective of whichever country the beneficiary may belong to. See this link (http://www.travel.state.gov/pdf/Immigrant%20Visa%20Control%20System_operation%20of.pdf) for details.
