Does anyone know if you get charged $$$ when coming into the United States on a K 1 visa at Point of Entry????? My fiancee will be traveling by herself without money and she is worried that there might be a fee at point of entry, Thanks :)

There are no fees for entering K-1 visa holders, but it is strongly advised that she have at least SOME money to travel with. She may want a magazine or newspaper at the airport or something to eat...

Not at the POE but there is an "airport tax" at El Dorado worth about $50 USD for non-residents.

She should really have a little money, one VJ member experienced cancelled connecting flight to Texas though the airline booked her in a hotel but she had to advance deposit money to the hotel as a policy and also bring some coins to use the telephone just in case her phone won't work she can call you if there are last minute changes on her flights.

My God man, put yourself in her shoes. Would you want to travel to a foreign country with NO money? Send her $50 or even a $100 so she can at least have something to eat at the airport or on the plane. This will also give her peace of mind if she has to try to phone you if there is a delay and needs to hear your reassuring voice.

I agree. There's no way I would travel without any money!

She needs to be able to take care of herself if something unexpected crops up. It's safer for her to take some money with her.

No fee is charged for K1 entry. I had to pay some money for baggage allowance excess though.

Do you travel without any money when you travel across the globe?

Then why should she?

She should have AT LEAST $50 and some coins/change when she travels.

Everyone here is right on the money. No pun intended.Every person should have some traveling cash. At least a $100. Buy some snacks /papers before boarding. Some snack on the plane ( they charge for almost everything). A phone call on arrival. A skycap to help with the luggage.Who knows? But..there are no fees to enter the country.

My advice or the process i took

Purchase a pre pay cell phone

Pre Pay CC w. 150 dollars

And moneygram of 100 dollars

All send to Colombia before travel day and she use the cell phone on her conection plus 60 dollars total in airport she even give me de pre pay CC Back and i returned to her right away.

Money use on food and drinks and gum and help w. bags . Cell phone was great i talk to her as soon as she landed in the US and all the time she was waitting for her last fly in FL. and as she landed in NYC.

I may has gone slightly over however i knew she was safe and we talk all the way
