Lawyers tend to estimate things longer so clients will be happy if the process seems shorter! lol It happened to me when we hired a lawyer during our I-129F process.

Thats good then! :) Can you help me with my other question..

If I move to a different state while my AOS is pending will it take longer to get an interview date?

OP, you've already gone through enough worry and stress when you were in your country waiting for the NOA2 based on the petition you filed. You're here with your loved one now, relax and before you know it, the AOS will be complete.

In the mean time, since you're in Louisiana, eat lots of that good food there. Like jambalaya, crawfish etouffe, gumbo, boudin, dirty rice, red beans and rice, blackened catfish, shrimp creole, etc,. :)

I just made myself hungry think of the food there.

Not all K-1 visa immigrats get an interview. If you need to change your address, file form AR-11. It will not have an impact on your AOS.

if you inform uscis w/in 10 days of moving and after a few days verify that your address had been updated, then there should not be a delay.

by the way, you can click on "status online" on uscis.gov, put in your case no. and see what step your case is at

If you are planning on moving then you the beneficiary have to fill out an AR11 and the petitioner needs to fill out I-865 and you will have the interview where ever you are living. And if your lucky you may not have an interview. And your lawyer cannot state when you will have an interview.

OP said they were not on a k-1 visa and posted in the wrong forum so they will have an interview.

It will be scheduled for where you are living. It is extremely important not to delay in filling out the change of address at all once you move as you don't want to risk having moved and them sending an interview letter to the other location.
