I have a pending AOS. My lawyer gave me a specific month on when are we having our interview which is on March 2012. I live in Louisiana and I filed on Sep 9 2011. I am counting the months from when I filed and its 6 months on March. Is this the processing time in Louisiana? Is this true? 6 months seems too long. :/

Some cases take several years to be finished. Your lawyer only "estimates" based on the uscis website (actually it is 5 months now...), he doesn't have any power to specify an exact timeline for your application. Just be patient and optimist.

Timeline

Six months is pretty reasonable for AOS, some take even longer to AOS.

But your lawyer has no certain month as to when AOS will be complete.

Several years? Some cases takes that long? Wow. I hope mine wont take that long. I checked USCIS website and instead of how many months they put March 2011 for I-485. Why does it says March 2011 and not 5 months?

That is probbaly average he/she had given. May be way less than 6 months, but this way you will not be disappointed.

Your lawyer can't be sure, he is guessing based on current processing timelines in your location. 4-6 months is completely normal. Cases that take years are uncommon, usually there are extenuating circumstances involved, though not always.

If the processing time for your office says March 2011 then that means that when that was posted, 485s from March 2011 were currently being ajudicated. Calculate how many months between March 2011 and when that bulletin was posted and you will have an idea of how long AOS is taking in your area.

I have another question, If I move to another state while my case is pending will it delay my case? will it take longer to get an interview date?

5 months is for immediate relative AOS. Yeah I have a cousin, he was an F1 student, he got married and after AOS he was waiting for 2.5 years without any decision after interview. He was extremely upset, and he had to mail bunch of guys (senator, congressman...) final they mailed him a 10years Green card, huh? I believe his case is an exception, but everything is gonna be fine, just keep your hope up. God bless and good luck.

I'm sorry but can you give me a better understanding of this "currently being ajudicated"

I checked it again on TEXAS SERVICE CENTER it says March 6 2011 and was posted Oct 18. 2011

But when I checked my district office the I-485 says 4 months.

If I live in Lousisana where is my SERVICE CENTER?

LA is jurisdiction of Texas Service center, but they don't process family-base I485 (on USCIS website.) If your case is family based, then I guess Field Office in New Orleans will process your case. And yes it takes 4 months for family AOS.

So you are saying I should base the processing time in NEW ORLEANS and not on TSC? If thats the case I'm happy cos it says 4mos! :)

Yeah because based on the processing time table for Texas Service center, there is no family I-485.

Yeah because based on the processing time table for Texas Service center, there is no form "U.S. citizen filing for a spouse, parent, or child under 21." FYI

Thats good then! :) Can you help me with my other question..

If I move to a different state while my AOS is pending will it take longer to get an interview date?
