different names on forms?

Hi all. I'm just about to leave for my trip overseas for my wedding, and I wanted to ask a few questions about the forms and name changing. I'm bringing the I-130 forms with me to India so that my (soon-to-be) husband can just fill them out there, and I can submit them as soon as I get back home.

Is it a problem if there are different names on the forms? For instance, my passport is in my maiden (current) name. However, from what I've heard about the Hindu Marriage Act, they automatically change the woman's last name to her husband's last name on the marriage certificate. I think that's pretty lousy, but we don't really have an option at this point but to get married under the religious law. So for the marriage certificate, I don't think I can really fight with them to keep my maiden name on it.

Ultimately, my intent is to change my maiden name to my middle name, and adopt my husband's last name as my surname. So on the I-130 form, should I put my name as it currently is, or as the name I plan for it to be?

For example, let's say that Jane Doe marries John Smith:

Passport: 'Jane Doe'

Marriage certificate: 'Jane Smith'

Desired name: 'Jane Doe Smith'

I-130 forms: 'Jane Doe Smith' OR simply 'Jane Doe'...? Would 'Jane Doe Smith' be allowed even if it hasn't been legally changed yet?

Just thought I'd ask, as I don't want there to be problems with processing our forms due to the names not matching up. Thanks so much for the input!!

Whatever name you write on the forms is the name that will be on your visa. Though I've also read that the name on your passport is what you go by. If you want to keep your name, that's up to you. If you don't want to. That's up to you. The Jane Doe Smith is fine. Legally you are able to change your name once you marry (if that's what you choose to do) so if you want to change your name, write that on the forms. If you don't want to, you don't have to.
