I feel your pain. My husband has been in AR/AP for a year. The embassy has his passport and original documents too. Contacting your senator is a good idea. They might give him a little more information then they are giving you.

Your situation is the same as mine. I received a 221g paper right after my interview. They didnt asked for additional documents. They did keep my passport and other documents. We did contact our senator and lawyer but both had no help. I have been put into AP for almost 6 months. We called and emailed the embassy but still the same reason "under review". I called the embassy and talked to an agent, she asked for my medical date (which is about to exxpire). After that, she told me to wait for a call or email on the following week. So, i waited. Then I received an email on the next week, telling me that my petition was sent back to USCIS for already 1 month past from the date I called.

my thoughts to you is keep calling or emailing the embassy because part of our mistake was that, we stop calling the embassy after almost 4 months of bugging them and yet we received the same reason. So we let them jsut do what they need to do, but we shouldnt did it.

There are some cases also who were the same situation as ours, the same received 221g form, no documents were asked, and now approved and got their visa. They waited 2 to 3 months.

I hope and pray that you will receive your visa soon. Just call the embassy once or twice a week. GOD bless and GOOD luck.

BTW, I received my passport almost 2 weeks after I called the embassy.

Just curious, when they returned your passport, is there something on it (visa sticker)?

To the OP, keep calling and follow up with an email.

Though sometimes you have to wait very long to be on hold until your cell battery dies :-(

Goodluck!

Nothing is put in my passport when I received it. No sticker or stamp at all. Just the passport I gave them during my interview.

May I know why you got a 221g? It's weird how they made you wait when the consul said so himself that everything was in order.

We dont know why we received a 221 g (with no docs to submit). Its part of the Top Secret information they have. We are still waiting. I did hire and attorney and he sent a request 10 days ago and the Embassy claims they never received it. I did send to both California Senators a request and nothing seems apparent that anything is happening.

It’s very frustrating. I am guessing of course…it seems our case was put to the side for weeks and after I called and talked to a lady…she might have stirred things up…later my fiancee called and then it felt like something happen…I am guessing still…maybe they requested doc verification (about 3 weeks ago)…the problem is…no way of knowing and it seems unfair that they know information about us and we can’t know…and their accountability is zero and our recourse nil…does not make sense for a country that prides itself on Liberty and Justice for all and the right to pursue and obtain happiness…after all…are we free legal aged and able to marry who we want as long as they are free to marry?

We should have the right to know what is happening with our information.

I talk to a psychic regularly...they been saying all along...no way she would get Visa before Thanksgiving but they see her here before Christmas...It really has to be a messed up system if you have to revert to speaking to a psychic to get hope or any kind of indication. That is where it is...

Gosh...I hope we can be together before I have to get a wheel chair.

is it normal for them to give you a 221g and not tell you why? Thast not fair to you at all.Or is it that they have to do additional backgroud checks.Hopefully it is resolved soon.Sorry you have to go through this.

It happens a lot...I found 2 good sources of information (no on government web site of course - they dont want us to know).

http://usaimmigrationattorney.com/SecurityNameChecksAndAdministrativeReview.html

http://www.visarefusal.com/221g/

These sites have valid information with insight to the 221 g process.

Dont sleep and wait for the Embassy...be proactive.
