Since this topic has been under discussion a bit in the Canada forum, I just wanted to pass on some info.

I just got off the phone with a girl from RBC Bank and RBC (USA) has been sold to PNC. However they are not anticipating any changes to client services. She told me that other than them mailing out new account numbers and client cards in February the transition should be seamless. She also told me we would still be able to have our accounts linked to transfer money between the US and Canada with no problems.

If I hear anything else I will pass the info on.

from US to Canada? or Canada to the US? I know that BOA is a partner with scotia, so I can use my scotia card with BOA atm's and no fees, but as far as I know, there is no way to transfer funds without a wire?

I have a Canadian RBC account and a RBC (USA) account and have them linked on-line. I can transfer back and forth with no issues. I have a debit card for here and a Visa Check Card for down south.

The lady on the phone tonight said it will remain the same way once PNC takes over the US subsidiary.

I wish I talked to a lady as nice as yours because when I went to my local RBC the lady basically bitched at me and told me it was impossible  I think she didn't want to take me seriously because I look young or something...

That's really strange. I made an appointment to open the two accounts. I opened my Canadian RBC account at the appointment here (so I could open a US account) and the accounts guy did up a form to fax to the US Accounts department and that's all it took. The next day they took the amount out that I'd authorized to transfer to the new account and the Account Manager from the local branch called to let me know I was approved and gave me my account number.

It bothers me when don't know their jobs and don't treat customers with respect. Without customers they wouldn't have their job. I'm sorry to hear you got one of those employees because they've treated me with respect both in person and on the phone (where I'm often confused with my daughter because I sound young).

There have been quite a few on here that use the RBC to tx $$ back and forth. I don't use RBC--You may just have gotten someone who had no clue and didn't want to listen to you and investigate it.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Same. We haven't had any issues with either the Canadian account or the US account. We haven't received our new PNC account information yet, but I'm sure they'll get it to us soon.

We knew this was coming a long time ago, one of our friends works for RBC and gave us a heads up.

Received an e-mail with a flyer link with Q&A for the changes with RBC: http://www.rbcbank.com/file-609842.pdf

Found this interesting: Checks for deposit may be scanned in through personal scanners or smartphones.

Been a RBC Royal and Centura customer for years now. I didn't read this tidbit about the deposit thru the scanners - that is awesome!! I don't live anywhere close to my Centura branch (I'm in North Dakota my "local" branch is Sunnyside Florida). NOt that I have had much need to deposit to my Centura account but that option is going to be great!
