Hi,

My fiance lives in Afghanistan and I just started filling out the petition for him. The address where he lives they dont receive any mails to their homes becuase the address for most of the areas are not like the USA. There, the houses are not numbered and no zip code ofcourse again MOST OF THE PLACES NOT ALL. I dont see any area on the forms to allow me add his dad or his work address for receiving mail( no alternative options for mailing). What to do? I can send him the important paperwork for his interview when that time comes via FedEx, but I am worried about the interview letter that the embassy will send him. Please guide me what should I do? Anyone who have filed for their fiance to Afghanistan what have you guys done? I am so lost. I called the immigration services and they werent helpful. They didnt give me a solid and reasonable answer. They told me to call the Department of States. I called them and asked them if it was ok to put a business address which is reliable under his residential address so he receives mails, one agent said it was ok. The second time I called to make sure and double check, they other agent I spoke to at the Department of States said NO.. now I dont know. Anyone, Please help me??????

Are you completing the I-129f? If so they are wanting the physical address of your fiance. There should an option later in the process to provide a mailing address for your fiance. Right now any mail relating to the petition will be sent to you.

Thank you so much for replying to my email!

Yes, I am applying for my fiance as K1 visa using I-129F form. Ok, so I should put his residential address for now and later on I will have an opportunity to have them mail interview letter to my fiance to his work address. Do you know when in the process they will ask me to provide an address where he can receive mails or I need to request that? Any help will be appreciated.

Regards,

On second thoughts, they do not seem to give you this option for the fiance visa although they do for the spousal visa.

It is hard to say exactly what you should do. Some people from other countries have had similar issues, but everyone's situation is slightly different so the solution varies. (Ie for some people, their vague physical address will get their mail delivered somewhere, even if it's somewhere they they have to go to to pick it up.) If your fiance does still maintain a residence at his father's house then that may be an option, otherwise I would not personally feel comfortable not providing his physical address.

Whatever you do, I would ensure your cover letter includes both the physical and mailing addresses.

Generally, you should be able to keep track of developments even if mail is mislaid. Even in normal cases mail is sometimes lost, and generally a phone call will resolve this issue.

Thank you once again for prividing this information.

I very lost and dont know what to do? I have everything ready, but this issue is holding me from sending in my petition. I hope other VJs will reply to this question with their inside and thoughts. I am so worried and sad. I just dont want my fiance to miss the opportunity of receiving visa interview letter when it comes to that point. This really a difficult situation which I dont know how to resolve it.

I wouldn't worry overly much about missing the interview letter. I myself didn't receive the letter until after the interview. Of course you want to do what's possible to decrease the chances of that happening, but don't worry. That in itself is not an insurmountable obstacle.

Seems no-one else is commenting even though I keep bumping this thread :-(

Searching back through the forums it seems other people have at times over the years asked similar questions, and often not received answers. But one thread where someone did get an answer is here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/291570-i-129f-g-325a-and-docs-use-mailing-address-or-physical-address/ I looked at their later posts and they were approved. Maybe you could message them and ask what exactly they ended up putting on the forms, as then you would know that there should be no problem with you using a mailing address in the same way they did.
