one of my three children who are due for interview next week is very sick and i don't think would be advisable for him to travel now i therefore want to withdraw his case from that of the other three children .wanted to know the procedure and ask if withdrawing his case would affect the other children or lead to protracting of the visa application time

basically, the USCitizen Petitioner would write a letter to withdraw the K-4 petition on 'that' child, submit it into the IV Unit at Accra, but

This is a one-shot deal for your family - I pray you realize that -

ACCRA is exceptionally difficult to get in/out of, to get a visa interview and subsequent visa approval.

You've been given a second chance already - surely the better thing to do, would be to postpone ONLY the other child's interview, not include 'that child' with the interview appointment, instead of simply 'removing his K-4 Visa Application' in it's entirety.

Suggest the letter is worded to reflect 'further postponement for "that" child', instead.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I will not withdraw the petition. If you withdrew it, wouldnt you have to start the whole process over again? If the child is well by the next interview date, doesnt that solve the whole problem? He can still attend the interview and postpone the travel until he is well?

Well simply postpone his interview date for that child till he or she is well to attend the next interview. When he or she is approved, it up to him or her to ravel or not. He or she will have six months to make up his or her mind and that will give that child an ample time to know whether to travel or not. I suggest you simply re-schedule that child interview or let the embassy know that child could not attend due to illness and provide a doctor's note to that effect. The consular may still process all the three children regardless since this is the second interview, but will contact embassy to let them know that child is sick and have a doctor's note in handy on the day of interview. I will not propably postpone the appointmeGood luck
