Wife visa is approved!!!

It was very quick 5 mins interview. Just usual questions what your husband do? did you go to honeymoon? when did you first meet? How do you keep in touch (emails, phone etc.). She provided phone logs. They did not ask for any photographs of marriage. She had marriage photographs with her, though.

Total hours she spent in consulate was 2 hours. She was first in the line when she entered.

So, we are done with immigration process at consulate. Now POE is left and will be in February.

congrats

congrats

Not Approved got 221(G)..

1.

Because wife's 2010 tax return does not have sufficient income even though her recent income since last six month (in new job) is well above required income.(I provided recent pay stub, job letter etc but of no use) they only saw 1040 form of 2010 for income calculation. I wonder was NVC sleeping as they didn’t issue RFE..

Lesson: Make sure your last year’s tax return shows sufficient income.

2.

For PCC of Netherlands as I stayed there for 3.5 years. According to NVC this was responsibly of Mumbai Consulate so they didn’t issue RFE. Personally you can not request PCC for NL it has to be done by US consulate itself but they didn’t requested it (Despite I wrote two emails to do that) and now at the time of interview they relies it and will request now..

I Guess I would have to wait for at least 20 days now..

It varies based on how much staff they have on hand and the case load is around that time. I don't have any experience with Lilavathi in Mumbai, but here's my experience with Apollo Hospital in New Delhi:

- Very difficult to even get a hold of the staff for getting general info or setting up appointment over the phone. After incessant calling and talking to the manager I was finally able to get an appointment. They were running very busy and it was difficult to get a timely appointment.

- Since I had an appointment, the time taken for checkup was fairly short, about 2 hours in which they completed xrays, gave shots and doctor consultation. But it all depends on the amount of patients they have for that day. It could take up to half a day.

- Report was prepared in 1 week, the reason was that they were very busy.

Assuming Lilvathi is as busy as Apollo in New Delhi (safe assumption as Mumbai has a population of 13 million, and Delhi has a population of 11 million), I think Feb 6 is cutting it very close. If they can't provide you an appointment before Feb 6th, ask them about your chances of getting the medical done on a walk-in basis, in case some appointments don't show up.

On the other hand, Lilavathi might be very fast in generating reports, like Jallandhar - they get you the report on the same day. I am sure there are some peeps here with direct experience with Lilavathi, let's hear their advice/experience.

It's good to be worried enough to talk to talk to the staff at Lilavathi and ensure that doing medical on Feb 6 will be early enough for a Feb 10 interview.

I decided to do a VJ search on Lilavathi to see if there were any recent reviews of Lilavathi and I found the following:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/334409-medical-examination/page__view__findpost__p__4989525

Mine was at Lilavati hospital. Reached there by 8:30 AM. Did the registration. Filled out a simple questionaire regarding medical conditions. Then I had to pay 1600 bucks. I was then sent for a blood test (VDRL) and a chest X-ray( Pregnant women should not get a Chest X-ray done. So girls if you are pregnant, let them know). This followed with an ophthalmology examination. Then a nurse measured my blood pressure, weight (was very happy that I had not gained much even though I am being fed like a pig by my mom because thats what mothers do) and height.

Then the physical examination was conducted. Was asked a few questions about past medical illnesses. I had carried my family doctor's letter which mentioned my immunization history and said that I was fit. I was given 1 vaccine.

Got the reports at 4 PM. Had to wait for a very long time to get reports so take something to read.

Glad that its done.

And from the same thread there is a link to a page on ***removed*** reviewing the Lilavati saying that "All reports will be available to the applicants the same evening."

http://www.***removed***/immigrant-visa/immigrant-visa-medical-examination-lilavati-hospital-mumbai.html

So a Feb 6 medical might not be as worrisome as I might have implied in my last post.
