The only reason a lot of VJers buy round tickets is because they are cheaper than a one way ticket. If this does not apply to you, buy a one way ticket.

Most definitely OKAY.

December 2009 -- Visit to Malaysia.

February 2010 -- Applied for B2 visa, approved.

March 2010 -- Visited US.

April 2010 -- Returned from US.

May 2010 -- Sent in K1 Visa application.

July 2010 -- Received NOA2 in 71 days from NOA1.

July 2010 -- Packet 3 received.

August 2010 -- Cancellation of K1 Visa application.

Why wouldn't a one way ticket be OK if the whole point of the K1 visa is to move to the US?

<grins> you could always explain to the officer that you are giving 'merica a probationary visit....

I think a round trip ticket on an immigrant visa might be as much of a flag as a one way ticket on a visit visa...

I looked into this on this forum and others and it raises no flags. You can essentially buy whichever ticket you choose, they're not going to refuse you entry based on which you have and you can always cancel the return journey on a round tripper once you hit U.S soil :)

just remember, you can't leave the US until you have AP approval or you'll have to go through the whole visa thing again...

Also - if you do not intend to use the 2nd trip - cancel it - or suffer the wraith of the AOS judges if they discover "someone" used that seat.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Buy the cheapest; it doesn't matter.

Well - The real question is which is less expensive. I checked the other day for a one-way ticket from DME to Florida, and the cost was about $3,200 - To do a round trip ticket (for which we could just forget about the return flight), was $870...

The K-1 Visa is a single-entry visa, and does not guarantee return to the U.S.

Does it cost anything to cancel a round-trip ticket?
