Ok I have tried to follow the I-131 reentry permit instructions for expedite processing at least fort he biometric part. that is I put 2 pre-paid FedEx shipping slips, and my email. but I have forgot to write expedite on the outer of the envelope I also didn't explain why I need the expedite on the cover letter, Just said need the expedite option, however on the form itself I have answered the question where you are asked the reason you applying for I-131. so my question is would you think they would expedite my case? Do they open the envelope to see whets inside as soon as they receive the express envelope? or my case just went to the normal queue because I didn't write expedite on the outer envelope?

Also from if anyone have gone through the I-131 process recently, how long does it take to get the biomatric appointment letter? And how far it is from the date you get the biomatric letter to the appointment itself?

I've had very little success expediting anything (including a REP) with USCIS, despite labeling the envelope 'expedite', including prepaid FedEx envelopes, etc... In my case, it took an inquiry from my congressman's office to expedite.

Biometric appointments are typically scheduled between 3-6 weeks after the I-131 application is mailed. The timing is largely dependent upon appointment availability at your local application support center. Once you receive the appointment letter though, you can always attempt an early 'walk-in' at the same center or other nearby. If successful, it doesn't speed up actually receiving the re-entry permit but it shortens the time a LPR needs to be within the US. Also note that REP applications must be received by USCIS when LPR is in the US and for the biometrics appointment, the LPR can leave the US in between those times.

Thanks a lot for the info.

We have done this before, last year same time, for my father, we are trying now for my mother. So when we did this last year it worked, my father got the biomatric appointment letter within 10 days, and the appointment a week from that. I am trying to do the same thing, the only problem I did was I didn't write the EXPEDITE word in the envelope. ughhh.

Now it's just waiting. and the problem is my mother ticket is in three weeks from now. I wish I didn't apply, now I will lose almost $500 if not even more. immegration papers are no cheap.

Our recent experience has been once we send the application, we are receiving the NOA in a week. Following week letter for the FP+BIO scheduled for about a weeks time later. In case of emergency, you can always goto your local field office and request them to expedite. They do receive the emergency based I-131 applicaitons at field offices.

There are no biometrics required for AP.

They are unlikely to expedite without reason. If you need an expedite I suggest you make an infopass appointment and take the evidence of your requirement for expedite and hope that works.

Correct.
