Aside from Mitt, there wasn't a candidate on that stage that Obama would need to have much of any worry running against. If you think that Herman or Newt or Ron or Michele or either of the Ricks could beat Obama, you dream on. I so wish the GOP would nominate the Newt or Herman. That would be great.

He didn't shoot himself in the foot. He just "stepped in it" as he told reporters after the event. He also pointed out that luckily he wore his Texas boots. So, you see, he keeps stepping in it because of the boots. He should be more like Mitt and wear flip-flops. While that might cause a different set of issues to deal with, there ain't no repeat "stepping in it" when wearing flip-flops.

If this was the first occurrence of a "brain fart", I would agree with you. But this has happened numerous times, which would lead me to believe that this latest screw-up is the norm, not an aberration. Dubya proved that being an imbecile doesn't preclude you from becoming president. I also agree with you about Cain folding and Perry picking up the slack. He has a massive war chest, and despite not being the brightest bulb on the tree, he is not batsh!t insane like Michelle Bachmann, so he can carry the teabaggers.
